Using my parents' Yacht Club room for ds's naps?

We are staying in a condo off-site for Thanksgiving week, but my parents are staying in a room at the Yacht Club. We have a 3-year-old ds who needs a nap each afternoon. So we're thinking that it would be easier to take him to the Yacht Club for his naps than to get back in our car and drive back to the condo (which is close to the Disney property). First of all, would this really be true? Or when at certain parks (like Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom), would it be just as easy to hop in our car and drive off? But then we'd have to repark later, of course...

We're going to see if my parents can add me to their room, as if I'm staying there. (It's only the 2 of them.) And then hopefully I'll have a room key and have full access to the room and resort, even if they're not with us. Do you think this will work? (My dh and ds won't be added to the room.)

And if I DON'T end up being able to get a room key... would we be able to take a Disney bus to the resort? They don't check you, do they? And would we be allowed to park our car at the resort? Or do we have to have a parking pass?

Thanks for any help!!! ;) Hopefully we can figure out a reasonable way to get those naps in for our little one.... aaaaahhhhhh..... ;)

Just have them add your childs name to the room and get a key that way. Then there will not be an extra charge for a third adult. No problem taking a bus or boat back to the resort, it's much easier than driving! Have a great trip!

you would not be able to park at the resort unless you were a registered guest and had a parking pass.

I agree about adding your child to the reservation instead of yourself. Also, when your parents check in they can get an extra parking pass if they explain that you will be coming in to visit - we've done that several times.

I've never had to show ID to get on a Disney bus, but I'm pretty sure that your park ticket also includes use of the Disney transportation.

Just get an extra parking pass.

Even though it will cost a bit extra due to the additional adults, I'd add all of you to the reservation. That way you all have room keys and can participate in Extra Magic Hours -- morning and evening. Also, you'll have room keys for hanging out at Stormalong Bay, the nicest pool on Disney property. Just use the off-site condo for sleeping -- be a Yacht Club resort guest the rest of the time. That's what I'd do anyway!

I think the only way it will work is if you parents are not on the meal plan, otherwise you will have to pay for whoever registers in the room in addition to your folks.

If they do get the meal plan, they would be charged for him or you and of course, the child's plan is so much cheaper.

Personally, I think it's a great idea, especially on the days you plan on going to Epcot and MGM.

The simplest thing to do, is to have your parents add you to the reservation. If they are on a package, have them check-in and then add you afterwards. Basically check-in clears the package from the system and anything done after that is a "stand alone" procedure. We've added our daughter plenty of times and this has always worked. Most likely, they will incur a $25 per night extra fee for having the 3rd adult on the reservation, but this way, you'll have a room key and can get a valid parking pass.

In regards to Disney transportation, many many years ago, we had to show resort ID to ride the buses. For a short time after that, you either needed a resort ID or a park hopper ticket. Now, they don't ever check. They want everyone to visit the resorts, buy items in the gift shop and eat at the restaurants. Nothing to worry about there.
