In Massachusetts I was ordering pizza for pickup and called it a pie, the lady taking the call was dumbfounded and stammered they aren't a bakery. I was equally stumped so we were locked in confusion and my DH (also from NY) took the phone to translate for me. When he got there for pick up the lady said she should have guessed.
