When trying to book through II, how long did you have to wait to get what you wanted, where you wanted?

I guess this is kind of like a poll. :sunny:

It will totally depend on the demand and availability of the resort and week you want. Most options that match will do so 2-6 months out. But there will be a surge of activity around the deposit limit for the resort in question. Most are 12 months out but some are 18 and a few others are 24 months. In addition there will be other minor blips of deposits such at 13 months out at certain Marriott's. In general, you should be looking a full 12 months out, 24 for certain options, to give you the best chance of success. That doesn't mean you won't be successful if you wait, just that your chances are less. Remind me where is it you're looking for?

Aren't you trying to decide about buying in. Frankly, buying DVC for the exchange options is a very poor choice. If you want DVC and periodic exchange options, you'd be far better off buying less points and paying cash for the other options. And possibly getting another timeshare to exchange if that's your goal.

We're not looking for anywhere in particular. I was just curious in case we ever did want to use DVC points for another destination. I would have to say that 90% of the time we'd want to go to WDW, especially because we have young children, but it's always nice to research all the options so we know what to expect if we ever wanted to use our points for something else.

I was just a little confused because I read that some only had to wait a couple of months for a high demand location, like Hawaii, while others said they waited a year or longer. So I was just curious so see what's the "norm" for where and when.

BTW - we are still actively looking, mostly at OKW resale listings, and we're also considering SSR. Not sure which direction we're going to go yet, but we're getting there. :flower:

This one is not the usual but my daughter was able to get a trade to Vail on the day she called for a late March reservation a couple of years ago and they got really lucky as ski conditions were great while they were there. I think she called about 3 months out.

Actually this is the other time when high demand options pop up. Those than can travel short notice can many times get very high quality, high demand trades. It' simply the luck of the luck of the draw though. Plus one needs to check the system many times a day in some cases.
