Using HHI Points to Book WDW at Christmas?

Ok, I would LOVE to go to WDW right before Christmas next year (Dec. 17-21). I have 39 extra HHI points (if my waitlist for June doesn't come through which will leave me with only 30). My problem obviously is that I can't book WDW until 7 months out. Will I be able to get ANYTHING??? I also have AKV points, so I should book an AKV value studio using those points, but then I would mess up my next WDW family trip in 2012. What to do???

These are my only options--

If waitlist does NOT come through at HHI (39 pts.):
AKV Value Studio (4 nights = 39 pts.)
BWV Standard Studio (4 nights = 40 pts.)
BLT Standard Studio (3 nights = 42 pts.)
AKV Standard Studio (3 nights = 36 pts.)
BCV Studio (3 nights = 45 pts.)
SSR Studio (3 nights = 42 pts.)
OKW Studio (4 nights = 40 pts.)

If waitlist DOES come through at HHI (30 pts.):
AKV Value Studio (3 nights = 27 pts.)
BWV Standard Studio (3 nights = 30 pts.)
OKW Studio (3 nights = 30 pts.)

Do I have ANY chance of getting ANY of these 7 months out for the week before Christmas next year???

If you are willing to take whatevers available you will probably get a room at 7 months. I usually have enough points for a one bedroom or studio which gives them more options.

The only time when I haven't gotten any rooms was at less than 4 months and even then I could have gotten a room if I wanted to spend the points to stay in a Disney Hotel (not a good use of points).

A 1-BR is out since I want to use only a few points. With some of my options, I realize I will have to either borrow or buy the one-time use points. I just don't want to go over too much so a studio is our only option.

Of my list, which ones do you think I have a better chance of getting???

Your most likely would be the categories with the most rooms available. I think that would be

OKW
SSR
AKV

That is not to say one of the others won't be available. It is just that when other things are booked those rooms are the most likely to be available.

If you have the extra points at 7 months I think you could get the AKV standard studio. I say this because this year I did get a standard AKV Jambo studio on June 1st for December 14 to 17, (I just came home yesterday!) I also think the SSR and OKV studios would be available.

If you don't have the extra points, my gut feeling is that only the OKW studio will be available. I say that because on June 1st. I tried for the value studio and it wasn't available.:)

I hope you get something...it really is a great time to be at WDW!

PS. I think you would have to be incredibly lucky to get a BWV standard villa at 7 months out for December.

Couldn't you use your AKL points for your Christmas trip then use your other 30 or 39 points for your 2012 trip. If your 2012 trip is during a less busy season, your chance of 7 month success would be greater then your chance for success at 7 months at Christmas...

You are right, and that is probably what I will do. I really don't want to though. Here's why...

If I book an AKV value studio with my AKV points, that will leave less points for me to book my October 2012 family trip to WDW. For that trip, I had planned on booking a 2 BR savanna room at AKV at 11 months out, then trying to switch to VWL. I guess I will just have to book a value 2 BR at AKV since I won't have as many points, since I will have used them for my Christmas 2011 trip. Then at 7 months out, I will combine my AKV points and my remaining HHI points to try for a 2 BR at VWL. Will I have a chance at VWL at 7 months out for the first week of October??? And are points from both contracts combined, or do I have to have enough from one contract to book a single night?

Also, thanks bobbiwoz, for the reality check on BWV. I wasn't sure if I would have a chance at a standard studio or not. I know they are really popular during F & W, but I wasn't sure about the rest of the year.

Can anyone answer my questions in the previous post? I'm really stressing here.

How hard would it be to get a 2 BR at VWL for the first week of October?

I know I combine my AKV points and my HHI points at the 7 month mark to book VWL, but do I have to have enough points in one contract for a single night?

I THINK that at 7 months you would be able to get a 2 bedroom at VWL for the first week in October. VWL has lots of dedicated and lock off 2 bedroom, and I don't ever remember there being threads about being locked out of VWL during that time of the year.

With regard to the "enough points in one contract" question. We have over 18 parts in our DVC membership contract. I had 3 banked VB points and I was booking a stay at BCV for next June. The MS person was able to use the 3 banked points and points from another resort to book the stay at BCV. So, those 3 points weren't enough for 1 night, but they were used with other points. Is that what you are asking?

That's exactly what I'm asking. If I can book something at 7 months out, I will use my HHI points, but if I can't I will keep my AKV ressie that I will book at 11 months out with my AKV points. Then if my waitlist comes through for my HHI vacation, I will be left with 30 HHI 2012 points, not enough to book a 2 BR for one night. I just want to make sure I can use those 30 with my AKV points to book a week stay at VWL. Thanks for replying!

As long as both resorts are under the same member number than you can combine them at 7 months.

They are under the same number. I actually have 2 HHI contracts, but all the numbers, including my AKV contract, have the same number. The only thing that's different is what is after the period. One has a 0, and the other two have a 1 and a 2. I bought through Disney and added on both times through Disney, so I assume they would have to be under the same number. Thanks for reassuring me that I can do this.

As far as VWL, does anyone else know what my chances are of getting a 2 BR the first week of October. My boys have their heart set on VWL, and I would not be happy if I got stuck with the parking lot view of an AKV value for the whole week.
