Hi girlies

Do you use hair straighteners when you go abroad ? and what do your use ? I bought some cheap ones in the US, and they are not that good (I guess you get what you pay), but does anyone take their straighteners from home and just use an adaptor ? and do they get hot enough ?

I always apply L'Oreal's Hot Straight to my hair and it does stay quite straight, but in the heat of Florida it can still go frizzy (if anyone has seen Monica from Friends when they went to Barbados, then you'll know what I'm talking about :rotfl: )

So apart from putting my hair up in a pony-tail, I could do with your advice

Thanks

Mandy :)

My hair gets frizzy really easily and I use my GHDs over here to control it. I have read that with the adaptor in the US they do not heat up as well so are not as effective. I am seriously considering having my hair chemically straightened for when I go, in the hope it would sort out the frizz problem.

Mandy ~ I always take my GHD straighteners with me to the US. I use an adaptor and although the straighteners don't get as hot as they do back home they still do the job. My hair goes really frizzy with the humidity in Florida and although I don't mind having my hair up during the day, I like it down when we go out in the evening.

I use Fudge products on my hair and also GHD Angel Tears both work really well with the straighteners.

Hope this helps.

I take my GHD'S and they worked just fine :) Monica .........whoops Mandy ;)

This is what my lovely daughter once put about me & Monica

I can absolutely relate to the Monica thing Mandy :lmao:

I have some (relatively) cheap straighteners that I use here and, although they don't get quite as hot in the US, they still do the job. I really only straighten my hair in the evenings though - during the day, I tend to tie it up and/or wear a cap.

DH offered to buy me some GHDs in the US last year but I still needed to take my own straighteners to use the day we travelled so didn't bother buying any in the end. This year, my hair will be a lot shorter so I'm hoping it will be even easier to manage.

My ghd's always worked fine in Orlando, but when we visited NYC in December, 2003, they wouldn't work at all, so I ended up buying some extremely expensive ones in Redken, Fifth Avenue. Now I always take those.

I have taken them in the past but after never using them I now leave them at home, I am in the 'tie it back' brigade as wearing it down is usually too hot even in the evening. Altough a month ago I went from butt length hair to shoulder length so it should be a lot easier to manage in the heat.

I have Saks straightners that I take with me but they do not heat as hot as they do at home. I have heard a rumor that GHD are bringing out cordless straigtners - the sooner the better!!

I know what you meam about the Monica thing - i suffer from it also!!! :teeth:

Until we watched that episode my DH thought I was a crazy woman with crazy hair then along came Monica and he realised the world was full of crazies prepared to pay a small fortune for hair taming products :lmao:

I take mine and they work fine but more often than not I don't bother using them except on my fringe. I wear a hat most of the day and tie it back in the evening.
