Using groupon for hotel stay?

Anyone ever use groupon to book a hotel stay? How does it work? Do I reserve through groupon or do I get a code that I apply to the hotel website?

What if my dates at the hotel are not available? Do I get a refund? Also, do I need to have a printer(I don't have one) but if needed I could send groupon email to dh at work .

we did a Groupon for a hotel in York ME...I had to call to book it but when I called, there was no room at the inn. After much wrangling, they made me a decent offer and we truly enjoyed the hotel. My advice is to book as soon as you get your groupon code.

We DID love the hotel and will be going back again sometime...even at full price.

Read the fine print. My guess is that it's effectively a voucher for a stay between certain dates. So what I would do is call them, tell them you're planning to buy a Groupon, ask them to hold a reservation for you for 24 hours and you will call them back once you have it. If the travel dates are limited and they don't have vacancy on the days you want, then you know not to buy the Groupon.
