I posted this also on Theme Parks board but have not received any answers:
I have not found any information about this on other threads. my family will be doing out GAD service prior to our April '10 trip. I was considering an AP anyway since my DS will be college searching in FL next year. We are DVC members - is there anything I should be aware of in the upgrade process that may be different than upgrading to a regular AP? I am assuming that I can apply the $79 per voucher value to the DVC AP as well...

Any thoughts? Thanks....

If I can't use it toward the DVC AP, then I guess I will plan in buying a multi-day park hopper...

Yes, you can apply the one day ticket towards any AP. You must do the exchange at a guest services location at WDW before the voucher expires.

From everything I've read, I believe this to be true: you will need to redeem the voucher you get via e-mail at a Will Call window on the day you want to use it for a ticket. After entering the park, you can go to guest services and apply the ticket's value to the DVC AP. You have to use the ticket first.

I think you go to guest services with your DVC card and your picture ID and your voucher. I'm pretty sure I read this somewhere...I would definitely try guest services before redeeming the voucher.

If you use the ticket, any value would be gone wouldn't it?

I agree with Bobbi...go to Guest Services outside the park.

What if you have already renewed the ap's, but have not picked them up yet? Also, the week we are going, GAD have black out dates. Does this matter if you are using the tix towards an AP?

From the 'everything about WDW tickets' sticky post , in the place the OP asked the original question.

Post 16....
You HAVE to use the ticket you get for GADGAD ON THE DAY YOU EXCHANGE THE VOUCHER!!! YOU CAN NOT SAVE IT FOR SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE.... And it HAS to be used in a park turnstile before you can upgrade it.

Bring the completed Certificate of Service to a "will-call" window at one of the Theme Parks to get issued a one-day, one-park pass valid for that day's entry. There are block-out dates of March 29 - April 8 and July 4, 2010. The tickets are valid only at the Theme Parks during normal operating hours. They are not valid at the water parks, Disney Quest, WWS, mini-golf, or any hard ticket event such as MNSSHP or MVMCP.

You must bring a valid photo ID along with your voucher. Valid ID is one of the following: valid Government Issued Passport, valid Driver's License including a photo, or valid Government Issued Photo ID. For children under 18 who do not have any of the previous listed IDs, a certified copy of a Birth Certificate is acceptable. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed government-issued photo IDs and will not be accepted. Please note: the Guest whose name is on the voucher must be present at the time of ticket redemption (for example, parents cannot redeem tickets for their children in their absence.)

The ticket you have issued to you at WDW will be worth the full value of a one-day, one-park ticket for purposes of upgrading to a multi-day ticket (including annual pass) or to be applied to the renewal of an annual pass. The ticket may only be used for admission on that day. All normal upgrade rules apply, including that the upgrade must be done within 14 days of first use.

If you want to upgrade the Free ticket it may only be done after you have entered a Park so it has been used on the day of issue. The upgraded pass may only be used by the person to whom the original pass was issued. If you do not use the ticket on the date of issue it is no longer valid and cannot be used for entry and cannot be upgraded.

If you have a currently valid annual or multi-day pass in your possession to have three alternate choices instead of the one-day, one-park pass. This pass cannot be any sort of complimentary ticket.

1. Fastpass Exchange Cards for you and up to five members of your party. All members of your party must be present at the time of redemption of the certificate to get the Exchange Cards. The Exchange Cards are valid that day only and at that Park only. Fastpass Exchange Cards may not be available after 11:00am.

2. A Special Ear Hat figurine with unique trading pins. See Ear Hat figurine voucher for redemption locations.

3. Donate your free ticket to one of the select non-profit organizations designated by Disney Parks:
* Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida
* Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern California
* Dreams Take Flight Canada

There is no Gift or Fun Card availability (such as in the 2009 Birthday promotion).

dburg30, thanks for the info. That explains MrsR123 advice as well.

Has anyone seen a window marked Will Call at WDW? When I picked up an AP that I had ordered for Will Call, I went to Guest Services outside a park. I don't remember now but would guess that was where I was told to pick it up. I wonder if it is possible to also pick them up at a ticket window?

So a guest must go to Guest Services (or possibly a ticket window?) outside a park and then Guest Services inside that park sometime the same day.

Yes, I assume the ticket window, one would be labeled will call.

Yes, you have to goto a ticket window at a park, with ID, and your voucher. You will then get a one day base ticket that is ONLY good for that day. It MUST be used that day or it becomes void, even within the 14 days it appears. Once used, it will be upgradeable like any regular base one day ticket. Can be upgraded within 14 days. They want these vouchers traded in and USED, not saved for a future trip.

That's the thing....I've never seen a ticket window labeled Will Call at a park, have you?

I imagine instead it is that some CMs have the capability of pulling up Will Call orders. As I said, I know from personal experience that Guest Services can do it for Will Call APs. It could be that the ticket windows don't have access to Will Call orders. For instance, APs can be purchased at ticket windows but TiW can not.

When/if I get a call for my GAD, I plan to donate the voucher. However, I do need to buy some new APs next month and will try to remember to ask about the GAD vouchers when I do so if no one else has posted new info in the meantime.
