Using FP+ for night shows, are the view points decent?

We are a family of 5, youngest being 3. I just set up my Fastpass selections and decided to use one for the Epcot Illuminations show as well as one for the Night Time Spectacular at Magic Kingdom.

I'm okay using my fastpass selections on the shows. We booked the kids "must do" rides and prefer to just wonder and stop when we want (we are also going end of August, during the "slow" crowd times).

What I want to know is if we've used Fastpass will be getting a good spot? Are we still fighting people to get a seat and keep it, or are the viewing areas set up so that only so many fit and everyone can see?

I just figure if we will still have to fight crowds I will use the fastpass on a ride instead, but if we will get a decent view I'll keep things as is.

Thanks

3. See my maps in my previous post above. Spots are "good."

4. No seats... Standing or sitting on the pavement.

5. Number of guests will be limited in the FP+ areas,
but you may or may not get a "front row" position.

The biggest issue with using it for night shows is that you lose the chance to get a 4th FP+ or more. I know the big time rides will be gone but in MK for instance there is SO MANY rides with FP+ that you could use it on lesser rides likely to help bypass some of the line or at least not have to stand in line as long.

I have Epcot reserved ONLY because its the first night we get there and we land at the airport at 6:10PM and our first night was Illuminations last year as well for our honeymoon. I have Test Track and Mission Space reserved as well but if we miss them its not the end of the world as I look at this night I am paying the $30 total or so for the extra day ticket (Day #10) on the premier view for fireworks.

We used a FP for Illuminations in November. I felt that the view was one of the best we'd had of Illuminations - much closer to the globe than we'd been before, and the view seemed more central.

I'm not sure if this is always the case but I did feel that there was still a little bit of a battle for a good viewing spot. The area wasn't crowded but a lot of people had queued for a long time outside the FP area and the spots at the railings filled up fairly quickly. I think I remember commenting at the time that if it was like that every night people - especially kids - who were not at the railings might miss some of the details.

We have said that on our next trip we would use at least one FP for Illuminations - I wouldn't use it more than once, especially if the park was particularly crowded, as I felt that people lining up early diminished some of the value of the FP.
