Using DVC Resorts Without Staying

As a DVC member, am I able to use the facilities at the DVC Resorts without actually staying there overnight?

I was just at the Vero Resort, and it seemed like a key card was needed to get anywhere - the pool, the beach, the gym, etc.

A friend told me that he just shows his DVC card to get into a resort to use the pool. Has anyone else had success doing so?

do you mean if you are staying overnight at another dvc resort? or do you mean just going to a dvc not staying at any dvc and wanting to use amenities?

Option #2 - not staying at Disney overnight, but just going to use the amenities (I live 90- minutes from Disney)

The only perks you are entitled to if you are not staying on a reservation through MS are dining and shopping perks. No pool hopping, no pool use period. Same with Vero and Hilton Head as with WDW resorts.

Your friend should have no access to VB if he is not staying on a DVC reservation.
