We are looking at buying DVC points and enjoy going to Disney but are looking to go elsewhere every second or third trip.

Does anyone use their points for the World passport desinations on a regular basis and if so are you happy with your accommodations?

Is it difficult to get the location and time you want or is it pretty restrictive? I know you have to be flexible when booking but wonder if it's going be a lot of grief.

Also, have you ever had any extra costs other than the $95 booking fee from DVC?

Most folks here feel trading out with regularity is not a good value for DVC points. While it is certainly possible, there are timeshares with far cheaper dues that can be used for exchanges.

We have been members for 11 years, and while we expected to exchange on a fairly regular basis, we have actually only done it once, and that was to Hawaii. Our friends who have other timeshares in addition to DVC use their cheaper timeshares for exchanges and only do Disney with their DVC.

That being said, when we exchanged to Hawaii, we thought our accommodations were very nice.

It is restrictive and is not a good value for your points compared to the costs and uncertainties involved. For someone looking to buy, they would be best served to buy the number of DVC points they will use at DVC and then look at other options for the non DVC trips. For Cruises and other Disney options, cash is the cheapest option. For other timeshares, renting occasionally or buying a non DVC timeshare to exchange is not only cheaper but better in many ways. Only 3% of the members exchange out to Interval International, less than 4% if you add in BVTC to that group.
