Using DVC points for Disney Hotels?

How many people here have used their points to stay at a regular Disney Hotel? When we first bought DVC over 20 years ago, I remember being told that doing so was a poor use of points. But we go less often now, and we're not point-misers. Considering staying at a couple Disney Hotels. I'm just curious as to how many others have done it. So have you ever used DVC points to stay at a non-DVC Disney hotel?

It is an extremely bad value. Not sure why you would do this at WDW given that availability is bad close in for exchanges

Only at DL and that's been quite a few years. The charts have no restrictions and have gone up and up. Still likely better price wise and availability to rent out your DVC points and pay cash for the hotel. Then you're also eligible for whatever discounts might be available.

I think that 40 points or so for a standard room is crazy. I looked into it going to DL or Tokyo, But would seem easier to rent points and then use it to book
