Using DVC Discount with Family

We had an interesting experience using our DVC discount on our past trip and wondering if anyone else has had the same. Previously all had APs so everyone had access to the discounts but without APs this time utilized the DVC member discount. I am the card (digital) holder so I was always there when redeeming at payment. The entire trip I presented my card, some asked for ID others did not. On our last night at the Christmas shop I presented my card for my aunt who was with us and was told that only I could use the discount. No big deal. I stepped in to make the purchase. My aunt handed me her money and then the cast member said he could not see an exchange of funds. He then said however we settle up outside of the transaction is up to us but he could not witness it. So I then paid with my card. I am fine following the rules and I am sure this cast member was doing the right thing checking ID and only allowing the deed holder to get the discount but this was the only location that this happened over our 10 day trip and we used my discount at most shops on property. Wish there was consistency across property when applying the discount but it seems redundant to not allow it when the person with you can just reimburse you anyway. Just adding an extra step for the guest and if it is allowed or not it will be done. Curious to others opinions and experiences.
So you pay for dvc or an AP and yet it seems many think that those who don't have those memberships should be entitled to use others discounts. I do not blame cms for questioning, AP and dvc members should just purchase an item and work out reimbursement from their friends or family. If you are fortunate enough for a cm to give all of your dining party a discount then you are lucky, but it should not be expected. And cms can get reprimanded or fired if they are caught giving discounts to non members, so please be aware not to jeopardize them. Just get what you are entitled to

It just seems odd that Disney would pick this battle rather than actively going after all the e-bay resellers who buy with discounts and then sell for a profit. Especially when the people traveling with you are allowed in the lounges with you.

I had an interesting experience as well. I was in the BW gift shop (Screen Door?) and was buying a shirt. The CM asked to see my DVC credentials, which I showed, and gave me my discount. As he was wrapping up my purchase, the customer next to me was asked if he had any discounts by the CM helping him, and he replied "no", but then countered with, "but the couple I am staying with has vacation club....can I use their discount?". And the CM helping him said, "Sure, I've got ya" and proceeds to give him the DVC discount on his purchases. The couple he was staying with were not in the store, btw. The CM that was helping me had to see the disbelief on my face, but didn't say anything and I just took my purchases and left.

So that guy neither needed the prerequisite "Y" on his credentials, nor even a resale credential. He just needed to "know a guy" who may or may not have even had DVC.

Years ago, at AK Kidani, I was told to get my ID from my room if I wanted the DVC discount when I didn't have it in my hand. I said ok and went around the corner to my very close room. The discount was 25 cents. I wouldn't have bothered to ask for it, they had asked me if I was a DVC member. But I was now sort of miffed that they couldn't just 'do' the quarter since they started the conversation.

Meanwhile, in the last few years at BWV, haven't had to produce any ID which I do have, and now it's on the phone so, easy.

I'm not going to get worked up about a CM sending someone else some pixie dust. But, at the same time, I would never ask for a discount to which I am not entitled. I only worry about keeping my side of the street clean.
Which is why, although taken aback, I didn't say anything or report it. I don't want to get anyone in trouble for a couple of bucks, but I was surprised
