Using DMS to get luggage, but not getting on the bus

We will be going to WDW in a month We were going to use DME but decided to extend our trip, get a rental care (for the whole trip) and fly out of Tampa after spending the last few days of our trip at the beach.

I would like to have DME take our luggage to our room, but since we have a car we won't be using the shuttle.

My question is IF I put DME tags on my bags, but don't use the DME shuttle, will my bags still get to my room?

I did but I didn't see anything about using the tags and not the shuttle. I'll look again . . .

In a nutshell--you'll probably be okay, Disney won't tell you this is allowed, and if you have any missing luggage, you may be in trouble . . .
