Has anyone used dme since they stopped sending the luggage tags out? How did it work and did you let them get your bags still?

I would like to know this as well.

I was a tad worried about using it before they did away with the luggage tags having never been, now i am worried even more.

I want to know more about DME as well I rang nearly two weeks ago and havent had any sort of confrimation I have rang or do you not Im just really worried we will land and they havent had any note of us booking it :(

Personally I would just pick your bags up (unless your going indirect you have to pick them up once anyway!). We did last year and it was no big deal.

I would rather have my bags with me, then have to wait potentially 4 hours for them, plus I think it will be harder for DME to find your cases without those labels no matter what they say...basically I bet they wait to see what is left over at luggage reclaim.

If you have a reservation you just go to the desk I have no idea how it works for the bags. We are just going to take ours with us as to save having to wait for our bags.

There was another thread similar to this but I am rubbish at the search bit.

So thats it I just land grab my bags (we land at 21.30 id rather just get them then wait for them) go to the desk and they just know we have booked it

well when I checked while booking my ADRs the person I spoke to said it was noted on my reservation and to just go to the desk. I did ask why they did not send out tags to the UK and she could not tell me.

I think having re read the other thread that you give them your numbers from the little slips they put on your passport when you check your bags in and then they collect them from the second belt. So you have to take them off the first and put them on the second before you go on the monorail to the main terminal. Though as I said this just seems like to much hassle and we are just going to take our bags with us. Think they can take up to three hours to deliver your bags so unless you are willing to stay up or wait til the next day I would just take them seeing as how you are getting in later on.

If you are there after 10pm then you have to get your own bags anyway.

Oh right thank you

you have been so much help thank you.

I think I would have picked up my own bags what ever time as I would just worry about them.

I will check when I book my ADR's like you did as well then just to double check she noted that we were celebrating getting engaged as well so I hope we get our buttons when we check in :D

I have used dme with them taking the lugggage 3 times without problems and intend to do the same again.

I must admit to be slightly concerned about not having the tags, does this mean that they are left on the carousel until you have checked in with ME:confused3 I always assumed that with the labels on they would be taken before they got to the carousel and I am not sure I like the idea of them staying on there so I think that we may take them with us this time.

We have used DME when they sent the vouchers and yellow tags and once since they stopped sending them to the UK.

Personally I prefered it when we had the yellow tags as after customs I could drop my bags and not have to see them again until the room. We always took a small bag with essentials on the bus with us in case they got delayed.

Now although you don't have to collect your luggage for a second time, you just hand DME staff your baggage receipts from the airline, I don't like the idea of leaving my luggage in a public place for somebody else to collect.

I did quite like having the bags with us on the coach but what I didn't like was the 1/2 hour wait for them to come through to the second baggage claim, that really slowed us down.

Also the DME area is in a different area of the airport to where you collect your luggage for the second time.

Now it would be easier to take your bags on the monorail, but unfortunatley for us this isn't an option.

HTH

I'm really hoping we can take ours on the monorail this time - they let us last year as we only had 2 cases between 2 people
