Using Disney World tickets at Disneyland

Bumping the thread - any changes for 2013?

We bought 10-day non expiring WDW park hoppers before the last ticket increase. They were $62.79 a day - and that's without including the 10 water park days we got.

As it happens, we have a three day trip planned in April, and the "break even" for us would be at four days, so we're looking at doing the ticket swap each day.

Thanks to everyone in the thread who's already posted - we're going to shoot for the "campout" style first-in-line approach to get them swapped before park opening. I also thought about booking the Plaza Inn character breakfast to get us in before park open at least one day... also thinking we could get the exchange done without wasting any park time.

Will you have used these tickets at WDW before swapping them out at DL? Either way, please let us know how it goes!
Thanks! :) Have fun!!

subscribing to this thread....we WDW have park hoppers and are hoping to use them for our trip in August. Also curious about tickets that haven't been activated yet and if there is any success in using them at DL before going to WDW....

Thanks!

I used my tickets that weren't activated at Disneyworld yet back in September just fine, so success! :)

Can anybody report any success in using WDW passes at DL lately? Just wanted to make sure that it was at least a possibility for our August trip.

So we just got back from our Disneyland trip, and I put together a list of our experiences. Probably more than what the average person would need to know, but when it comes to Disney, I tend to go a little overboard. We had 10 day WDW magic your way base tickets, no park hopper, and expire 14 days from first use. We did NOT activate them in WDW before going to DL, they were completely unused. Here's what happened.

DL Ticket Experiences
7/10 Wednesday arrived Magic Kingdom 7:00pm, short lines, received one day one park ticket took about 5 minutes, CA early entry
7/11 Thursday arrived CA 8:30am, no lines, received one day park hopper ticket took about 7 minutes got a Radiator Springs Racer Fastpass for 5:45-6:45pm, MK early entry
7/12 Friday arrived MK 9:00am, lines about 10 people deep, received one day park hopper ticket took about 12 minutes, CA early entry
7/13 Saturday Day off
7/14 Sunday arrived CA 10:30am, no line, received 1 day park hopper ticket, took 2 minutes, no RadiatorSprings Racers fastpasses left, CA early entry
7/15 Monday arrived MK 1:45pm, lines 20 deep, received park hopper ticket, took 15 minutes, CA early entry
7/16 Tuesday arrived 9:30am, line 2 deep, received one park/day ticket, took 2 minutes, MK early entry, got Radiator Springs Racers fastpasses for 5:15-6:15pm
7/17 Wednesday arrived 11:15, line 10 deep, took 17 minutes, received one park/day tickets, CA early entry, 58th anniversary of DL
7/18 Thursday arrived 10:24am, line 2 deep, took 14 minutes, received one park/day tickets, MK early entry, Radiator Springs Racers fastpasses gone
7/19 Friday arrived 10:24am, line 15 deep, took 12 minutes, received park hopper tickets, CA early entry
7/20 Saturday arrived 9:05, line 5 deep, took 8 minutes, received park hopper tickets, MK early entry, got Radiator Springs Racers fastpasses for 3:45-4:45

I hope that helps with anyone planning future trips! We were so happy to have this thread before buying tickets, otherwise we would have spent $500 on two 5 day DL tickets per person! We would do this again and again, it was so easy!
I guess I should also clarify that with the WDW tickets we were not eligible for the early park entry feature that is included in DL tickets (that have 3 or more days). The parks were both open so late that we did not feel like we were missing out on anything though.

Thank you for posting this! When and where did you buy your WDW tickets? I have read some stories about the newer RFID tickets causing trouble being exchanged and I thought they had swapped out all tickets for RFID lately.

I have considered doing this for our trip since we want more than 5 days, but had heard they had to be activated at WDW first. Now I'm back to thinking maybe we should try this.

I'd love to hear stories from others as well.

We bought our tickets from Undercover Tourist on the day Disney announced their price increase, so we got the cheaper prices. We did not have a single issue, every cast member we approached at the gate, knew exactly what to do. They would always call over the gate manager to take care of the ticket swap, who would bring back our original WDW tickets, and the new ones. The new ones would be scanned and they would let us in immediately through the stroller entrance. It was quite seamless.

These were not the RFID tickets, just to be clear.

On Monday July 21st, I went to the Grand Californian Entrance to California Adventure at approximate 7:45am for Early Entry. Provided my single-day non-expiring tickets to the CM. The lead CM (name was Cap) took my tickets and went back and after 7 minutes came back and asked are we sure we had admissions remaining because he couldn't find any. I told him I verified the days remaining (each ticket had different days left) at WDW two months previously, he merely shrugged and gave us 1 day park hoppers.

The conversation was a bit strange, I will need to follow up as to whether he deducted any days at all, or just asking to see if I knew that some tickets were going to be using their last day.

Long and short, I had been given park hoppers to CA and DL for WDW single park tickets. Also, on my previous visit in 2010 were had to go to the main gates for each park, and this week we were able to use the resort entrance.

I'm so happy I found this thread! We are going to Disneyland for the first time. Our girls have 4 day WDW PH's with 2 days remaining. I really hope this works for them. Unfortunately, DH and I have regular AP's, so we will have to buy tickets for ourselves, but this will really help us out if we can swap their tickets.

I can confirm that you currently CANNOT use the new RFID WDW tickets at Disneyland. I learned this lesson the hard way on July 2, 2013. Had just converted my 10 day no expire WDW paper tickets to RDIF the month before our DL trip - big mistake! As of right now, PAPER WDW tickets still work at DL. See this thread for more detailed information:

So will exchanging a Y.E.S. ticket from WDW that hasn't expired yet (within the 14 days) work as well?

And I assume they ask for ID at the turnstile or ask you to verify the name on the ticket, right?

Luv4Minnie, thank you! We are going in November so I love your detailed run down. I'm glad I found this thread, because when we were at the World in May, they told us you couldn't use the tickets at Disney Land. (not that I completely believed them) I'm happy we won't have to spend more money on tickets when we get there. :cool1::cool1::cool1: :banana::banana:

OOH, thanks for posting this! Some of ours are the RFID tickets! I will make sure I bring the ones that are not!

Thank you Love4Minnie--that was very helpful to us! We are going for one day this coming weekend and I am nervous that the CM's won't know what to do, but it seems that you had success and no problems every single day for many days!

Did you ever go to the Guest Relations desk? Or did you just present your WDW tickets at the turnstile? Did you ever use the turnstile from the Grand Calif. Resort or just the main CA gate? Did they have you step aside so other guests could enter behind you while you waited? Did you ever need to use your fingerprint or anything like that? How did you know that you had hoppers, do they state it on the ticket?

Sorry for all the questions. If we can't use the WDW tickets, we will have to skip the parks (1 day tickets to DL are astronomical and there are 5 of us).

TIA!!!!

Does anyone have any experience with using one day left on a Y.E.S. ticket from WDW at Disneyland? Is that even possible? Obviously we're going from WDW to Disneyland within 14 days from first use.

Sorry...not ignoring your question. I just don't know the answer. Maybe you should PM Cheshire Figment to ask about the YES tickets. If anyone knows, it will be him.

So, just from our experience, we never went to Guest Relations, we always went straight to the main gate of the park (the turnstiles). We tried to pick a gate that would have half of the gate closed because they would just have us step to the side while they exchanged the tickets, and that gave us a place to wait that was out of the way. As soon as they returned with the tickets they would scan them and have us walk through the stroller entrance, no finger scan. We did leave the park once and had to get a hand stamp, and on reentry they did have us scan our fingerprint. The tickets do clearly state on the back if they are one day one park tickets, or if they are park hoppers. We did not use the entrance at the Grand Californian, except for reentry, but we didn't have any problems there.

So.

If I have 3day WDW tix that haven't been used at WDW, I SHOULD be fine to use them day by day at Disneyland for a 3day trip?

The unactivated part makes me the most nervous. This would be amazing though as I currently have the tickets in my hand and no use for them at WDW.

Hey all. First time poster, so be gentle!
My girlfriend and I are headed to DLR for a night and a day. We have 1 day,no PH tickets.
Just found out my grandfather had some leftover tickets from a trip in '92 (when I was 5). I've called disney and they said these should be valid, provided they aren't expiration tickets (there's no expiry date on them, so I assume they are)

Ok, onto my point. The tickets are non transferable, so the first person that used the tickets is the only person that can use the tickets.
None of the tickets are signed or have any names on them, can they prove that my girlfriend didn't use ticket in'92? Surely we could just say she came with us on the trip?

Technically, I can use one as I used one when I was 5. Will they dispute this?
Would love a free extra ticket and try to check out DCA.

Sorry for the long post
Dan

Not that I would do this - but I have some A, B, and C (there my be a d ticket, but no Es) tickets from WDW from 1976 or 77 - I am just curious what would happen if I showed up at a ticket booth I tried to use them.
