I heard if I use my Disney Visa to pay my balance on my cruise that there may be perks such as an on board credit. Any one used the Disney Visa and received this perk?

The current OBC perk that you get by using your Disney VISA is for "drinks only". In the past the OBC was just a general OBC (applied to anything charge to your onboard account).

And, you must pay for the entire cruise (deposit and subsequent payments) with the Disney VISA to qualify for the OBC.

I paid our whole cruise with my Disney Visa, will I receive this credit as well? How
will I know if we get it? Thank you:thanks:

The credit was $25 the last I checked.
From DisneyRewards.com:
Must use your valid Disney Visa Card to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation for sailings through 12/30/2015 to receive a $50 onboard credit good towards beverages. Call 1-800-257-2024 or your travel agent to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation and ask for booking code DCC. Offer must be requested at time of booking for new bookings only. The onboard credit is per stateroom for each stateroom paid in full with your Disney Visa Card. Offer is valid for up to two staterooms. Any unused portions are non-refundable and non-transferable. Cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts and is for personal use only. Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. Ships’ Registry: The Bahamas. Chase is not responsible or liable for fulfillment of this offer.

Yes, my travel agent confirmed it's $50 per cabin up to two cabins, supposed to be for drinks, but since the change, others have said it has been credited to non drink items...waiting for other reports...

It's my understanding if the original reservation was made in 2014 the promotion at that time was for general OBC. But, if the reservation was made in 2015, it's for drinks.

A minor note, but "cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts" means you won't get the Disney Visa OBC if you book onboard. They won't combine it with the onboard booking discounts/OBCs being offered. Which is an okay tradeoff.

I didn't receive my Disney Visa in time for the deposit, so I missed out on the $50 OBC, but as a perk for new card holders, they offer a $200 Disney gift card for any purchase over $500 done in the first three months. Since I will use it to pay the balance of the cruise, I will score this one, which I can use towards our camping trip at Fort Wilderness in November:D.

I have the Disney Premium Visa - and we use the points to pay for a small portion of our airfare. I think it's better to get the double points paying for Disney Stuff.

Never have gotten the OBC from the Visa since we always have rebooked onboard and received a larger credit this way. But with the "24 month use it or loose it" policy DCL now has, we may actually receive this VISA credit sometime in the future.

Are you sure it's the gift card? I just upgraded our card this month to pay for the cruise, and the offer was a $100 statement credit. I know a couple of months ago they were offering the gift card, but now the website says statement credit.

The perks vary, depending on what they want to "give" away at the time. When we booked our last DCL cruise, we were new Disney Visa holders, and we got the $200 gift card for a minimum purchase (I believe it was the $500 within 3 months thing). Also changed was the OBC offer. Last year it was a general OBC (good on anything charged to your onboard account). Currently, it's OBC toward beverage purchases.

Maybe the difference is the new card vs. upgrading your card?

I'm not sure, I'm just going by the Disney Visa web site :confused3. Sorry, I should have mentioned we have a new card in addition to the regular Disney Visa. I called about upgrading and they said just to apply for a new card.

The application I received in the mail states "Earn a $200 Disney Gift Card after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening". May be a special promotion for those who have never had a Disney visa. I honestly have thrown this application in the garbage in the past, but since we booked the cruise and have not paid if full, I could not pass it up.

Glad your getting the gift card then! :-) I probably should have applied for it when the site still said gift card. Oh well, the statement credit is nice too. Have fun on your cruise :lovestruc

I had to call and have them apply the offer... Not automatic for sure. Very picky about only applying to drinks. If your purchase is a combo gift that has drinks and food. Obc can not go towards it.

I also did the card without the annual fee because they were offering a $100 statement credit for the annual fee card and $50 for regular (for new applications)

The annual fee is $50 a year- so really all they are doing is waving the annual fee for a year in addition to $50

I can't forsee me earning enough disney dollars to justify the $50 annual fee since we can't do parks annually.

Our cruise is $2k - so that's still only $40 in disney dollars if we had the annual fee card that pays %2

I put it on the no fee so we will only get 1% ($20) - however that puts us in the positive instead of -$9 after annual fee.

I guess if you are pushing several thousand a year in cruise and park packaged - the full card would justify that annual fee for any purchases over $2,500 every year.

You really have to do the math!

We have the Premier card (or whatever it is called) where we pay $49 a year. Last year, we earned much more than the $49 fee with the extra 1% on Disney, Gas, Grocery and Restaurant purchases. However, we also only used this card for most purchases and paid it off each month (multiple times usually) to avoid interest.

We've accumulated quite a bit that we'll be able to transfer over to the rewards card and use on our cruise this year :) My favorite perk of the card is the free photo you get in Epcot - so much fun!

To take full advantage of the card you should pay everything with it. Cable, phone, electric, heat, food, shopping, VACATIONS and gas as long as they don't charge a fee!

Just pay in full!

It adds up very fast when you do this.

I just got my Disney Visa card (not premier). I will get a $50 statement credit with my first card purchase, which is going to be my cruise deposit.
