Has anyone used a discount website to book a Disney resort hotel? Do you still get magic bands as door keys and all the Disney mail they send you before your trip ? We are only staying one night in June and plan on visiting a waterpark and downtown Disney. Trying to do this as cheaply as possible. Thanks!

On orbitz it's all the same, but you have to book only 2 adults, then call orbitz later to have them add kids to disney res. You get all the stuff in the mail, etc.

Yes, I used Orbitz back in December to stay at the Pop Century and I also bought our Disney tickets (it was buy a 3 day park hopper and get 2 days free) as a package. We got our magic bands in the mail about 2 weeks afterwards. I also used EBATES, which at that time was like 8% cash back on Orbitz. I wouldn't hesitate to use Orbitz again as it saved me alot of money!
However, if you are only staying 1 night and are only going to a waterpark and Downtown Disney, I don't know if you would get Magic Bands to use since you are not going to the theme parks. Hopefully somebody else chimes in that would know for sure.

You would still get the MB since they are your ME ticket and the room key.

I have used Orbitz for our last 3 trips, go through Ebates to get the cash back. Orbitz lets you stack discounts, for our trip this May we got the 15% off Disney was offering plus Obitz had a discount code for an extra 15%. Like a pp mentioned, book for just the adults and then call Orbitz to have them call Disney to add the kids. Orbitz charges per person in room (so an extra charge for more than 2 people) while Disney only charge for the adults in the room.

I've used Expedia UK and have received the official Disney mailing and magic bands linked to my account. Don't think it matters WHO you book your Disney hotel with...

I used Orbitz last year for our short stay at CB. I registered on Disney site etc. Everything worked out fine no problems.

I've booked through Orbitz before but never thru ebates. How much cash back do u get? Is it real cash or some kind of rewards points?

I did this with out hotel booking at AoA through Cheaptickets. After linking the ressie number to my Disney account, I happened to notice the zip code for the outgoing MBs was not ours - they were headed to an address in Chicago! Turns out they were being sent to Orbitz headquarters (and Cheaptickets is affiliated with them). Thankfully, I was able to update this in the MyDisneyExperience area and they were shipping to us. Otherwise we would have all received gray bands when we got to the hotel, as it was still in it's BETA stage. I am sure they've remedied that snafu.

You get real cash ;) It depends on the cash back they are offering - sometimes it is 6% other times 10%. When I booked they were doing double cash back so I got

Actually it is not a snafu, they always do that. You have to change the address in your MDE. Not sure why it is done this way, maybe because they do the booking? Maybe they have to "buy" a certain amount of rooms. I know that sometimes Disney will be sold out of a category but Orbitz has it available.

I also should have mentioned that Orbitz also applies their discount code to AoA LM rooms. We stayed in a LM room for 15% off,
