Using Davids Rental ?

Has anyone used this.. A friend of mine is looking into it.. and wants to know how it works... does he book the DVC ressie and magical express and dining or does the DVC point owner... Thanks..

The owner books the room, Magical Express and DDP. The broker matches them together and keeps 50% of the money in "escrow".

Once the renter has their reservation # from the member/broker, they can book their own dining reservations.

From an owners point of view, I was not asked to book any dining reservations, dining plan or DME when I rented my points.

But for dining reservations, they don't even ask for your reservation number when booking ADR so you can do this yourself. I'm pretty sure you can also schedule your own DME.

Is your rental done already? I find that David's mostly book at 11 months, so I normally just secure the room. Then once the renters have their flight (which could be 6 months or less from trip), you'll get another email to book DME. DDP can be booked up to 48 hours from check in.

DME and DDP are optional, so your renters could have driven and not bought DDP.

But if they need it, the owner has to call MS to book them. Renters can't call MS.

As a owner, I rented my points out via David. His team is good and I rent my points out fast. I wasn't asked to book for anything beside the room reservation.

I'm an owner who has used David's three times - all with fast results. For one of the reservations they only needed the room reservation that I made, for the other two I did book DME for them also and dining plan. David's gave me all the info to do it and it was quick and easy. Dining reservations can be made by renters themselves.

Hi, this is the first time we rented points via David! The process was quick and we got the 2 resorts we wanted we booked in Mar. for our Oct. trip. At that time we booked the room only. I will be purchasing flights soon and adding the DP. I will have to contact Davids and they will contact the member to add it for me. I have made all of my ADRS!!!! I was lucky enough to get all of my ADR! Good luck in what you decide

Yes - the trip completed last year. The family is from Australia who probably didn't need both DME and Dining Plan.

David's has the owner book the DDP using the renter's credit card. And dining reservations are entirely handled by the renter.

I just rented from David's for my trip next summer 'cause we're our of points! Previously when I used them, the owner booked DME but now they state we do it on our own by calling DME directly.

For the ones I did, the renter provided Gift Card#s for the exact amount of the DDP. I called MS, purchased the DDP and used the provided GC #s. I don't think I've ever done it with an actual CC#. If I were the renter, I wouldn't give my CC# to strangers!

I rented my points out and just had to make the room reservation and the DME one. It was super easy and my points were rented really fast which was nice. I'd use David's again if I couldn't use my points.

You don't need to have the dining plan arranged when you make ADRs. We usually set up our dining plan with the owner we rent from about a month before our trip, but we make ADRs right when our window opens at 180+10. We've rented from the same person for several years, and we just send him a check to cover the dining plan. I think he sets it up for us and then tells us how much to send him, but we've also rented from him several times so I think there's a little more trust there.

I highly recommend David's DVC rental. It is fair for both side, and made it easy for us.
