Using credit from SWA bump

Has anyone been bumped on SWA? We volunteered our seats on Fri 8/24. We got credit that is good through 8/23/08. However, we are booked on a Disney cruise (our first! ) next August which ends on ..... 8/24/08. The voucher clearly states the credit must be used by the expiry date and there will be no extensions or cash refunds.

Has anyone been able to persuade SWA to extend the credit? Or pay it out in cash?

Is it a set dollar amount or does it just state 1 RT flight?
If it's a set amount I would at least book as separate one ways and use it to get there. You'd only have to pay to get home.
If it were me and knowing myself, I would use that as an excuse to go back sooner. February sounds nice. Get away from the cold.
OTOH, it couldn't hurt to call and ask for a little extension right?

We took a bump awhile ago, and we were not able to use it for a trip we had planned, because it would be expired. I called, and (gotta love that Southwest), and the gal said she couldn't extend it, but she would refund our last two FL trips, up to that amount, if I would send the tickets in. I sent them in, she refunded my credit card for the amount (and let us keep our reward points) of the bumps, and we were all happy.
Recently I found I would not be able to use my leftover funds from a discounted trip before they expired, and I called and she sent us luv coupons in the same amount, good for 6 months. We are booked in Novemeber to use those. I love their customer service.

rua, it is for an amount of $, so you are right that we could at least use it for the trip down. Thanks for pointing that out. I also thought about planning another trip, either for WDW or elsewhere, but I thought I should at least try to be responsible and use this opportunity to save money rather than end up spending even more! I am going to call and talk to them.
