Using Costco travel??

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that reservations can't be transferred to costco. Is that corect? My plan is to book a "dummy reservation" when we are on our Alaska cruise and then change it once we decide what we actually want to do, probably a 2013 cruise. So I couldn't transfer the reservation to costco?

I've booked 5 cruises through Coscto/Disney. 4 were booked on board and transferred while on board, I told the dis travel agent to list Costco as the travel agent. When I called Costco each time, it's always an argument and then it goes to a supervisor, I have to explain that they're getting full comission as I booked it on board and listed them at the time of the booking.
I've always gotten the gift card and it's definately a hefty one.

I just did this for a bookingthat I made this past November.

We book all cruises through Costco. I have priced everywhere else and no one beats them. We booked Disney last year through them, and have a current Celebrity booking with them.

Here is a tip, if you have rooms already booked with Disney, you can still transfer the booking to Costco. They recently changed their policy. Just call Disney and tell them that you want Costco to be the agent of record and you want your booking transfered to them. They will tell you what you need to do, usually provide something in email, or fax a letter to them stating that you want to do that.

We just priced two Disney cruises for next year through Costco. As an example, for a 5 night Bahamas it was $6,981.15 total through Costco for 2 connecting category 6B rooms (there are 5 of us). And we get $570 in Costco Cash Cards after we get back. Can't beat that. Their travel insurance is great too, less expensive than Disney's as well.

I've used costco twice and have had great experiences. When I asked about the lowest cost options for the different categories the Costco rep took a moment to review the price sheet and let me know about the different GTY categories. For comparison when I gave DU a chance they took 2 - 3 days to respond and did not offer me the GTY category (which if i'm asking for the lowest price and you're a DCL specialist you would think it would be offered to me).

I got about 8% back on a Costco gift card for my 2 cruises that i've booked thru Costco. This is about double any credit that I could have rec'd anywhere else.

Not sure who you talked to, but you received incorrect information.

It's clearly stated on Costco Travel's website and on their Travel Insurance coverage terms and conditions that hurricanes (both at home and at your vacation destination) are covered.

Also, Costco Executive members receive double benefits for free (i.e., $100,000 coverage for trip cancellation instead of $50,000).

In business there is something called "FUD". It means Fear Uncertainty and Doubt (think of your off label ink jet printer cartridges and your major brand laser printer's warranty response -- if you use anything but brand x you will destroy your printer and it MAY not be covered, blah blah blah).

I think there is some FUD going on here when people post blatant misinformation about Costco....and i'm not afraid to admit I love Costco.
