I have a question.

After the onboard credit and Disney Reward Dollars are used, can cash be used to cash out extra expenses left at the end of the cruise? Or does a Credit Card have to be used?

You can go down to guest services the day before your cruise ends ( or any time really) and pay off with cash whatever is on your account. I think you should probably do it the day before you get off, and if there are any other charges made after, let them go through on your credit card since Guest services gets to be REALLY busy later on that night and the next morning. You can go down and ask for printouts of your room charges at any time so that you can keep track. I usually go down and pay off most of my bill with traveller's cheques maybe a day or so before the end, then just a few things go on my credit card. You do have to put a credit card on file before you sail.pj:)

We have never put a credit card on file and have always paid cash.

If you plan to use cash on your account, you will be asked to place a deposit on the account. It ranges from $200 - $500 depending on the length of the cruise (this is for the whole cabin, not per person). They will "spend" any onboard credit, Disney rewards dollars, etc. first, then apply any charges to your cash. If the balance goes to zero, you get a notice in your stateroom asking you to come to GS. If there is money left over at the end of the cruise you can stop at GS to get your refund.

There is no need to place a credit card at all.

Our school raises money by selling "scrip" in the form of gift cards. We are required to buy $3,000 each year, a portion of the proceeds goes to the school.

I will buy gift cards in the amount I think I will spend on the cruise. I call up DCL prior to the cruise and make what they refer to as an "amentity purchase" which transfers the gift card amounts to my stateroom account. I like starting off a cruise "in the black". :)

Many times I walk off the ship without a balance due It's a great way to meet my scrip obligation and not have to worry about a big bill at the end of a great cruise.

Thanks, I didn't know you didn't have to put a credit card on file. I just have always done that. As I said , I do pay some off as I go but leave a bit at the end so I don't have to get in any long lines. You always learn something on these boards.pj
