Using Carolyn Allen's for tuxes

Can anyone clarify this process for me a little? If I want to use Carolyn Allen's for the guy's tuxes, where can I bring them locally to get measured? Won't wherever I go be sort of offended that I'm using them for measurements but not actually renting from them? Also, as far as actually choosing the tux style - am I limited to looking on the CA website? I was hoping DF and I could go and see some in person to let him try some on, and take a look at the fabric options. Is this not an option if we go with Carolyn Allen's?

Carolyn Allen's is part of the Jim's Formalwear Network, so if you find another Jim's dealer near you, you should be able to see some of the same pieces. Frankly, a notch-collar tux is a notch-collar tux no matter where you go, but I know what you mean about seeing things in person.

You also bring up a good point about trying them on. We didn't tell our local Jim's dealer that we had no intention of renting from them for exactly the reason you mention; we were just sort of vague about when we needed tuxes. But if you feel really uncomfortable, you could try getting measured by a local tailor/seamstress, maybe at a dry cleaner's. They may charge a nominal fee, but it could be worth it to avoid discomfort.

Side note- we went to a mens wearhouse of a decent size near home a couple of weeks back and they have NOTHING for guys to try on at the store. Obviously this must not fe the case everywhere, but apparently if you are seeking anything but the most basic tux, you are ordering it sight unseen and hoping the style snv quality work out. I was very shocked to be told this as I wanted to see my guy in a couple options first.

We went to a local store where Adrian had bought a suit a few months back, told them we were having a destination wedding and had no intention of renting from them, but asked if they would mind taking his measurements, they had no problem with this and congratulated us - they were very nice about it!

I'm also of the opinion for the most part that "a tux is a tux" - we had our own vest, tie, and pocket square so all we needed were the basics....they brought it with more than enough time to make changes if need be - in fact the shoes didn't fit so they brought him new ones the next morning. Carolyn Allen's was a breeze to deal with really...

We made an appointment with the Jim's Formalwear here in Richmond to get the guys measured. When we got there we told the gentleman that we were getting married in WDW and getting our tuxes from Carolyn Allen's. He was very, very nice about it and made sure he was very clear with the measurements and styles and even called Keith at CA to make sure there weren't any issues.

The guys at Carolyn Allens are the best. My father-in-law lives in Orlando and it happens to be right around the block from their shop. We were so excited when Disney suggested using them as we realized that my FIL knew them. We were down in Disney 6 months before the wedding and went in and picked out the tuxes and my DH and his dad got measured. Everyone else (4 guys) just went to their local tux rental shop and got measured. We told the shops that we were having a destination wedding in Disney and no one had a problem measuring the guys. We forwarded the measurements to Carolyn Allens and they got all the tuxes just perfect.

Two days before the wedding we had all the guys meet at POFQ (where everyone was staying) in my dads room and all the guys tried on their tuxes and Sue made what ever adjustments needed to be made. The day after the wedding all the guys just dropped their tuxes at Guest Relations at POFQ and they were picked up. I highly recommend them.
