Using banked points

Wondering if anyone can please help me. We are considering purchasing DVC and I understand most things (I think!), however, my question is in regards to banked points. Example: Let's say I have banked points that will expire in June 2015. If I book a vacation before that date for August 2015, can I use those points. Or are they gone the last day of May 2015? I am aware that if I were to cancel the trip, those banked points would be gone. I hope I am communicating this correctly!

All points use is based on date of stay, not when you make the reservation.

Points have to be valid during the time of your stay.

The last night they could be used is for a stay May 31, 2015. They are expired as of 6/1/15 and may not be used for that day or after.
