Useless facts/Chit Chat Thread

I remember being in first grade....life was fun, things were easy...the hardest thing about 1st grade was wondering who stole my blue crayon, having to eat the cafeteria's salisbury steak(damn, that was nasty)...but the rest of it was fun and easy.........my 1st grade daughter, Kenzi, is studying her vocabulary words. She is SIX years old....freakin SIX!!! I know the world has advanced ALOT in the last 35 years...but our vocabulary words were on the level of CAT, DOG, RUN, MOM...etc. Here is my SIX YR OLD KIDS list of vocabulary words:

waste - ok
recycle - tough one
structure - jeeez, what 6 year old knows this word?
resourceful - What The Hell??? She's freakin SIX
inspire - this is crazy
creation - Im starting to worry that my kid may not get into kolij
terrific - these are some really tough words for a little kid
done - whew
new - this is more of what I would expect for 1st grade
find - and we're getting back to normal
old - we can do this
after - thank god this is over

RESOURCEFUL....I know my kids arent genius', but is this NORMAL for 1st grade?

Things have come a ways since we were in school Rog...trust me

I feel your pain Rog. Landon is 11 and in the 6th grade. I vaguely remember this time of my life. OK, I remember it well but, alot of the school stuff has been blocked out. I do know that I was not doing the type of math that Landon comes home with. Alot of ya'll know that I am a contracts manager by profession. While actually writing one is administrationm the field work invoved in developing the work is Engineering. I do ( Sometimes very advanced ) math most every day and Landon is already getting into some tricky stuff.:scared:

It costs more to buy a new car today in the United States than it cost Christopher Columbus to equip and undertake three voyages to and from the New World.

But a new car smells a lot better than an old wooden ship full of rum filled, scurvied old sailors who just finished a voyage across the Atlantic.

Here is when you know that Nana is rubbing off a little too much on your son...

Apparently my mother was holding up the line at Chick Fil A today while opening/fixing my son's drink in the car. The impatient man behind her decided that he had his three second's worth and honked the horn at her. She rolled down the window and yelled, "Just hold on a minute! You jerk!" If that wasn't enough for the poor man, my 5yr old son then proceeds to roll his window down from his car seat, unbuckle himself from the seat and stick his head out the window too exclaiming, "Yeah! You JERK!"

Lord Help me.

Yay for Grandma!:cool1:

Could have been worse Jen....Grandma could have given him a certain "hand signal"...instead of just calling him a jerk.::yes::

I think I would have died right there.:faint:

The funny thing is...I know exactly what she says to people because he repeats it when he is driving his Escalade Power Wheels down the street. I about pee my pants laughing...

he needed a bailout also.

Columbus had government funding from the King & Queen of Spain.

"The wheel in the sky keeps on turning. I don't know where I'll be tomorrow. Wheel in the sky keeps on turning...and I don't know, I don't know, I doooonnn't knoooowoa!" Columbus actually wrote that song even though Journey made it famous.

Since most people do not eat large amounts of fish on a daily basis, the levels of contaminants that are consumed are negligible, and therefore you should not give up eating fish.

Ok Frank, I have got to ask... are you being paid by the fishing promotion board??? Or maybe it's long john silvers? Or maybe the national alliance of commercial fishermen?

:lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm not sure if Long John Silver's serves real fish, but they do serve up a good case of the trots.

I don't know, I've seen some minivans and soccer-mom mobiles with the doors crammed so full of fast food wrappers and sweaty cleats in the back that really reeked!:crazy2:
