Reminds me of my mother.

During one of my dad's many hospital stays, he was frustrated and depressed. (it happens when you can't speak and are paralyzed )

When asked by a psychiatrist if there was a gun in the house...my mother thought an appropriate reply would be...
"Are ya crazy?...If we had a gun, I would have shot the b*****d already"

I had to point out to her that her response would likely bring a visit by Adult Protective Services...

I can't repeat her response to that.


Thank God we knew the social worker on the floor.

I sure you are all aware I am the only listed moderator on this board, when post get reported and not responded to (ie: I'm at work or something) then the webmasters step in, they might not always see things as we intend.

I need all your help to keep things in line, Do we need to make political discussions off limits on this board or can we keep it civil?

I can be civil, Scott - as can most of us "regulars" on the camping board. I'm even nice,,,,in a devious sort of way!

The truth is the thread was very civil until a couple of race baiters stepped in and made assumptions of people they have never met. We let them know so and as usual, rather then try to defend their accusations, they got nasty and then cried fowl.

One was new to the Dis-board altogether (which makes me suspect that they really aren't new - just a new user name), the others who are not camping regulars are Community Board regulars. Does that 'splain anythin', Lucy?

I have been amazed at the usual level of "getting along" from the regulars on this board. Name-calling and arguing isn't the norm here. Trouble starts when people from other areas of the DIS search on political words and find their way into this group. Maybe I'm biased (OK, I AM biased), but I didn't see any reportable posts until the unknown names started showing up.

I don't see the need to ban specific topics. We usually are able to stay away from subjects that we know will stir up trouble. We just tend to forget that anything posted here is open for the world to see, not just the regulars. We just need to save the hot-button topics for other meeting locations. It's safer that way.

Scott...I feel for you. Really I do, but it appeared to me the referrenced thread was going along fine, until those that don't normally post in this forum did so. Now..I'm not saying they don't have a right to be here, ..that's certainly their perrogative. It was pointed out that it is a public forum. In fact, quite a few of our visitors were warmly welcomed to the board. That being said, it was obvious from the start that the sole intention of their posting was to create the exact situation that occured. I only speak for myself when I say that I have a hard time believing that the Camping Community Board suddenly became of such intense interest to so many new comers..ALL AT ONCE? Come on. Basically... we're boring.
We know it..and we LIKE it that way!


There was more to this than a political discussion. We've had them before. We share opinions..not shove them down one another's throats. We can agree to disagree, and many times have. We laugh it off and have a Kungaloosh. What happened earlier today had more to do with someone who's left the board, with their panties in a knot, and decided to get even.


In any event, I guess we all sort of played right into it, making life difficult for you. I'm sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused you.
We'll play nice from now on...I think.
