Useful Concierge Information

Susy - I just returned from a fabulous stay at BWI CL back in May. When you arrive, they will still point you to the front desk. Tell them you are staying concierge and you will be escorted up by someone at the front desk to check-in on the concierge level. All the lounge CM's were so personable. I can't praise them enough.

I didn't get a chance to scope out the offerings, but for a snack and breakfast. Breakfast was continental type - danishes, croissants, 3 types of cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, milk (white & chocolate). For snack it was cookies, chips/pretzels and cokes, etc. Wine reception is at 5 pm. Desserts and cordials from 8-10.

You'll love planning with their IPO and this fun, lively group just spills right over to the lounge. All you have to do is start a conversation with one of these folks. Lorenzo let me see the Presidential suite while I was there and told a celeb story along with. I took away a night at CR 14th floor and AKL from our July trip just to be able to stay 2 nights in the area since I loved it so much. I don't think you're going to be disappointed.

Oh, I am so excited that I found this thread!

We just booked the CR 14th Floor for our trip in August. It will be our first concierge trip, so I am really excited. I asked this question on the regular resort board, and I got some answers, but maybe you "concierge experts" can help me out.

How many regular rooms are on the 14th floor? I know that most of the rooms are suites, but we have booked a regular room. I just wanted to know my chances of getting a Magic Kingdom view. Also - does anyone know how many total rooms are on the 14th floor?

It is our 20th anniversary, so I want it to be really special. I was told on the other thread that the two queen bed rooms are not facing the MK. Any more feedback? Thanks!

Ok, I think there are 16 total rooms on the 14th floor. 4 regular concierge rooms - 2 rooms with Kings and 1 room with Queens facing MK and only one queen room facing the bay. The rest are suites. Let's see if this link works:

It shows a layout of the 14th concierge floor rooms. I hope you love it. I'm due there in July for the first time myself. I hear very nice things about the 14th floor concierge. I think you've picked the perfect one for such a milestone anniversary! Make note - MK view for yourselves.

Thank you so much! Well, now at least I still have a 50/50 chance of getting my MK view!

What a wonderful resort to spend your anniversary. I'm a GF gal, but the 14th floor CR is at the top of my list for our next visit.

There are 4 regular concierge rooms in total as VAgal mentioned. 2 have king beds, 2 have two queen beds. Both king rooms and one queen beds room faces the MK. The other queen beds room faces Bay Lake.

Hi all-
We are staying @ AKL Concierge in less than 60 days  and I have had some wonderful dealings wiith the Concierge staff. What I am wondering is will I be able to see them and thank them in person(are they actually on site in the lounge or tucked away off site somewhere?)
I would also like to bring them a little thank you gift -what are some suggestions?
Thanks,
Trish

the itinerary planning staff (Don, Sue, Andrea, et al) are actually on the lobby (3rd) floor. we brought homemade cookies for them last month! i agree- they're terrific!!

Trish - Just like eddieras I had concierge call Sue and Don down to be able to thank them personally for all they had done. Many do choose to bring them treats such as edibles, gift certficates, baskets of goodies etc. (I wonder if I could hit just right for eddieras homemade cookies ;) ) I'd ask them what their schedule is before you depart so you know they are there when you are.

Thought I would add this information over here for anyone planning on visiting the Wilderness Lodge Concierge soon .

I'll get to the information related to the news from the Lodge, I did meet-up with Mark Newman the manager of concierge on my visit to the Lodge.

#1 The New Concierge Lounge is well under way but not complete...
Hi,
We are staying at WL from July 23rd. We are hoping to upgrade our junior suite to concierge.....do you know whether this is possible?
Also, do you have any idea what the offerings on the menu are like.
And do you have any idea how much they are charging to upgrade to concierge?

So many questions!

Caroline - In all honesty, I think free to low cost upgrades to concierge are fewer and far in between these days. Strange as it may be, the jr. suites are not concierge level at WL. If you'd like to do concierge there I'd be safe and book it. You can typically get an AP or AAA discount for these rooms. I'd request a courtyard view as well. I don't think you can "really" see the castle from there with the trees though some say they can. The courtyard view is only my preference. Did you want the jr. suite for space to accommodate all in your family? As far the offerings go, they have the best sugar cookies ever. We are hopelessly addicted them. They'll have a continental breakfast spread in the morning and I can't remember what they had for hot appetizers and desserts last year in the evening (we were still full from the cookies :teeth: ). Snacks during the day will be chips, of course cookies, sodas, etc.

I called one of the Chefs at WL in hopes of getting the recipe (they are the best sugar cookies I have ever tasted.)

He e-mailed me back and said they are baked from a pre-made dough that they get from a company. www.englishbaycookies.com

I then e-mailed the company to find out where they might sell the dough in my area and I have not heard back from them yet.

A lot of work for some sugar cookies, but it's worth it. :earboy2:

Cool...THANKS! Do you know what kind of can of worms you've opened with this. Oh boy, oh boy! :rotfl2:

:guilty: My TA just phoned and said that Conc. @ the Poly wasn't available for our dates, Oct 10-15.The Poly is doing reno's to conciegre lounge at that time. WDW said we could change to concierge somewhere else at WDW's expense or stay at the POLY and be refunded the difference. So I phoned my GF (who is paying for it all) and she want's to still stay Poly (because and only because it's on the monorail)...remember hyper (ADHD) 7yrs DS.

I was actually hoping that the Free dining plan promo would be extended/ rerun for that time (the dates for free dining plan only goes to Oct 4th)- Anyone heard anything about those dates?

Should I recommend another deluxe (GF or CR) for concierge for her?

Thanks

GOSH....if Disney is going to pick up the tab for the difference for Conc. at another Delux, go for the Grand Floridian. It is ALSO a monorail hotel. They also have 2 different pools, which could be good to keep a hyper child active when not at the parks.

Good Luck

ITA with Mister Disney. You don't have to give up concierge to stay at a monorail resort - there's GF & CR. Was your GF set on the Poly because of the theming or is she willing to stay elsewhere. Try for CR 14th floor or GF main building concierge if they're willing to pick up the tab on it. :cool1:

Well, I heard from the English Bay cookie company

I am sorry but our English Bay Cookie dough is not generally available
in
the Florida Retail Market
We make privatelabel for Kroger in the refigerated section so if you
have a
Kroger store in your shopping area you might check and look for Kroger
Break
and Bake.
I hope this helps
Thank you for your interest
Sincerely
Peter Morris
Director Of Sales US East

It looks like the only place I will be getting those wonderful sugar cookies is at WL Concierge.

Darn, those are good!

ummm Floridafam>> Did you just move from the land of Kroger? Atleast you didn't shovel any sunshine this winter, eh?

I'll head out right now to the one in Clarkston and see if they are there! I can bring a supply with me if need be when we come July 26th-Aug 3rd!

Yes, I wish I still lived in the land of Kroger. I think we had 2 or 3 right near our house.

Maybe I can have my parents ship some down on dry ice. :rotfl2: ;)

I have never tasted a sugar cookie as good as the ones at WL CL. I've tried a few recipes and various different ones from Publix but nothing tastes the same.

Maybe I should move back to Michigan. :confused3 :teeth:

Don't do it! You have sunshine... we have.. Snow.. lots of snow.. cold blowing snow... you have spring... we have SNOW.. cold blowing snow... lots of it!

OK.. back from the new Krogers which I am now in love with! THey didn't have anything called a sugar cookie under their brand, but they did have something called a snickerdoodle under the breakapart category. For science reasons.... for the thread... I bought one of each type... the things we do for the DIS...LMAO We have snickerdoodle, peanut butter, moosetrack and regular chocolate chip break apart cookies. The snickerdoodle look like a sugar cookie but with a very light square of maybe cinnamon? I didn't read the label. I will let you know!
