Useful Concierge Information

Hi, I've just recently stayed at the YC concierge and found their IPO absolutely amazing. I've just booked to stay at WL concierge and contacted them by email with some questions (the email shown on the first page) but 3 days later they still haven't contacted me. Maybe I was 'spoilt' by the promptness of the YC IPO but does it normally take this long for WL concierge to reply to an email?

Thanks

Our trip is a little under 180 days away now (yay) and we booked our AK Discovery Excursion (that's the safari tour available for all concierge guests at any WDW resort and probably what you want to book). It's $45 per person. It runs at 10am and 1pm. There is a limit of 15 people per tour so you will want to book that asap. You can book it through the concierge service at your WDW resort.
Just an update now that we're back. The van broke down the morning of our 1 PM Discovery Excursion. The bright side is that we still got to meet one of the primate keepers, and she escorted us on the regular Safari vehicle for two run-throughs (minus the Big Red/Little Red plotline). We had a great time, learned a lot, and the kids fell asleep on my lap on the second go-'round. The best part of all? They refunded our money due to the inconvenience.

It was still a nice experience but we could tell what we were missing by not being on the "special" van. If (when?) we stay concierge level again, we will either try to book this again or we'll make ressies at AKL so we can do the Sunrise Safari instead.

Good evening! We are getting ready to book our room for our annual October trek to WDW for the F&W Festival. We have decided to stay at BWI in a deluxe concierge room. I know that they IPO staff will gladly help us with our normal ADRs, but do they also have the authority (with our cc numbers of course) to book things like the Party for the Senses or other F&W special events?

Yes -- they can do that for you when the window opens up -- as long as they can access your ressie in the system. Your cc should do that.

That would be a great benefit. Thanks for the reply!

Hi, I wonder if anyone of you guys could help me. I have been looking at booking concierge on the disney uk website but am confused about some of the codes they seem to be using. For the Beach Club it said Harbor club WF, what does WF mean? For the yacht club it said YF and for the Boardwalk it said Water view IC which was a bit cheaper than the YC and BC prices. So does water view mean a pool view at the Boardwalk? If the YC and BC were a little more expensive what views would these possibly be?
Also do the lake view rooms at the YC and BC all have good balconies? I would want a nice balcony for my stay.
Lastly I have heard that the BW has the best concierge lounge out of the 3 resorts, is this true?

I know the F is for concierge - the codes are for reservations - each resort has a letter and then that letter is followed by another to show what type of room it is. Sorry, can't help you on the other questions.

Danauk - The balconies are small at all 3 properties and aren't great for sitting. I would basically stand only on them. Yes, BWI's lounge has an advantage over the other two because it is larger and has a couch with table you can also retreat to outside the lounge if it's full and more of the staff are friendlier. I'm a bit confused by the new codes, too. Be careful on that waterview code at BWI as you may not be booking CL but just a standard waterview instead. I'm surprised they don't have further descriptions on the web site - an icon or something. If all else fails I'd give them a call and have them clarify for you.

Is it safe to send the IPO staff your credit card info through email?
Has anyone done this before?

If you don't feel free to e-mail the IPO, you can always feel free to fax it or to call in, instead.

I have always called them and given my cc#. Never put it in an e-mail. If I have to leave a message I just ask them to call me back.

I'll be starying Concierge @ AKL in November, so am subscribing here to make sure I stay up on info needed, and remind myself to read through this thread when I ahve the time!

Saffy - You're going to love the AKL. :thumbsup2 BTW, under thread tools there is a subscribe button. You can click on that and not have to actually post to subscribe. ;) Have Don at AKL's IPO do his Donald Duck impression - especially if you have kiddos. ::yes::

OT :offtopic: - Big "howdy" to KerryCm. Glad to "see" you around. :wave2:

You should never include credit card #'s or other sensitive information in an email - it is not a secure method of communication.

Hello Everyone, I went through most of the thread but didn't really get the answers to the questions I was looking for after reading it for 2 straight days. Can you all please tell me in your opinion if the WL CL is worth it? Has anyone gotten anything special from this resort or felt magical or am I better off just doing the regular room and sending goodies down there myself. I have heard mixed reviews on whether or not it was worth it and this makes me nervous!

thanks in advance

Stacey, IMHO WL CL is not worth the extra money. Although it was nice to have the lounge there for breakfast and snacks it wasn't worth the cost difference. The only reason we stayed CL is because we couldn't get a regular room (marathon weekend).

The only thing I requested from the CL staff was that they ask mousekeeping to clean our room. When we arrived I found a used band-aid on the floor :scared: and the room was so dusty I couldn't breath. I know they called (twice) and the only thing that happened was the band-aid disappeared. I specifically asked that they clean the vent in the bathroom (twice) and it never happened. I ended up cleaning it myself with a washcloth.

So my opinion was that it was nice but not worth the cost difference. I wouldn't say that I will never stay concierge again, but not at WL. I don't honestly think I'll ever stay at WL again.

This thread has been a gold mine of info for me! Thanks to everyone who has taken to the time to provide mountains of information! I am still in the midst of wading through it all but I am very much appreciating all that I have read.

We have two upcoming CL stays this year. First at AKL. Second at CR. This will not be our first visit to either of the resorts. Or to CL at WDW....but it will be our first CL stays at both of the resorts.

We are looking very forward to them!

Thanks again! Please keep posting away!!:flower3:

Hello,

I'm packing for our stay at WL Old Faithful club next week. DH and I are rather addicted to decent coffee and I'm trying to decide if I should pack some to make in the room. We aren't total coffee snobs. We love Starbucks, but we are happy with Costco Columbian Blend (made nicely strong) for everyday. Neither of us like the standard-issue Nescafe served at WDW.

Anyhow, I'm thinking I read somewhere that when they renovated the concierge lounge at WL, they added a cappucino machine. Or maybe I'm thinking of AK. Does anyone know? If it is there, is it available all day long or just at certain times (breakfast and dessert?).

TIA!
