I am checking in AKL concierge tomorrow afternoon. I will report what I find out.

Have wonderful trip Piglet. Is this your first stay? I will be looking forward to your report.

I am staying with my DD7 and my mother who is 68 and this will likely be her last trip to Disney. It's just us girls and I would like to do something special for her. Any ideas? and also I have not stayed at concierge-any suggestions on what things I should ask for or get help with or is it really just the food perks?

Hi Kurgan, I haven't stayed at BC so I can't help you with resort specific information. How active is your mom? What are her interests? What time of year are you going? Last question, have you been to WDW before?

The IPO can help you with any items you may need, they also will have suggestions for your group. If you answer my questions I will be able to help you a little better.

How kind of you to plan this trip for your mom :)

My mom is 68 and pretty active. She really likes Epcot which is why I picked that resort. We've all been before and stayed at AKL & Contemporary, but we've never stayed at the concierge level or at BC. We will be there 12/8-12/14. I thought about an Illuminations cruise--I think that's what it's called. Anyway, any general ideas would be great.

The Beach Club/Yacht Club Illuminations "special" cruise boat is the Breathless (from Breathless Mahoney from the Dick Tracy Movie). It does tend to book up very fast, so you'd need to see if its available ASAP. You can also do a Pontoon Boat cruise which does cost a bit less but isn't as "special" a boat.

We were just at the BC last week. One thing I would encourage you to do is to take a little time & introduce your mom to Art, the Greeter down in the Lobby. He's practically a Disney Institution himself, and goes WAY out of his way to make EVERYONE feel EXTREMELY welcome. His title might be greeter, but my wife & I have dubbed him the Grand Admiral of the Beach Club.

Also, make sure to make some time to eat at Beaches & Cream, located on the pool side between BC & YC. It is an old 50's style soda shop with probably the best bugers in all of WDW.

If you have ANY questions about BC (unfortunately we weren't at the concierge level) from someone who was just there, ask away!

Enjoy the Magic!

That will be beautiful time of year to go. All the resort decorated, the sights and sounds of Christmas. A special activity my DH planned as an anniversary surprise last year was lunch with an Imagineer. It was GREAT! It is held at the Brown Derby at MGM. It is a lovely TS lunch with personnalized menu's. The food was very good, but the highlight is you are in a private dinning room with no more then 8 at the table. The imagineer shares stories of how things were created and answers questions regarding Disney. He may even share some secreats. I will add a link that will tell you more. It was one of the BIG highlights of our trip. http://allearsnet.com/din/dine_imag.htm

We were given a large black plate for Disney's 50 anniversary complete with matching stand. Our imagineer personnalized it to my husband and myself. It is now our our fireplace mantel in our master bedroom.

Another idea would be to go to the GF for dinner one evening. They have their band playing. The GF has a beautiful lobby, very old world and elegant. During the holidays I understand the decorations are especially wonderful. There is a life size gingerbread house which has been featured on several Disney programs. Each year it is different.

An other idea would be a spa day or gift for your mom. The Disney spas are quite nice. I would also suggest dinner at The Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. Very good food and service right near your room.

Mrmagicmph's idea of an Illumminations Cruise is super. If you are unable to book breathless the pontoons are very nice, comfortable and very easy to get into and our of if you mom has any problem with steps. You can also move around on a pontoon which may appeal to your daughter.

I would contact IPO as soon as possible and see what they suggest and get your dinning and any special activites booked. That time of year things book up very quickly. We are going from right after Thanksgiving until the middle of December. I am having problems with some of my ADR and plans as the most popular are booked. I am sure you will have a wonderful trip. Drop back in and let us know what all you did. :tinker:

Hello! I'm planning on calling this weekend to upgrade our WL courtyard ressie for next summer to concierge!! :cheer2: When I call CRO, should I just make my room request then, and then reiterate it to the people from the IPO when they contact me?
thanks!!

ETA: we booked it! yay! :cool1:

Subscribing. BC CL is the best. If you have a good view, we enjoyed room service in our room with a view of the lake. It was a spur of the moment thing, and very special.

That should be fine. I just wouldn't guarantee that IPO will contact you first. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the calendar. If you don't hear from them at about 200 days out, I'd drop them an e-mail and get the ball rolling. You wouldn't want to miss out on any special ADR's.

this was at the bottom of my email from the IPO today

That phrase is nothing unusual. It is on the bottom of many corporate faxes and e-mails all the time - privacy and confidentiality and legal privilege issues, so I wouldn't view that statement as anything. The recipient can do what they like with the info.

thanks, Tammi!! :sunny: So, you think I should wait a little while before contacting them? (we're at about the 8 month point now). I was realllly hoping that they would contact me first, since I don't know exactly how to start off a letter to them. :confused3
I am just so excited, I want everything to be done NOW! LOL! :teeth:

I was too excited to wait too. I was also too nervous to send an email at first, so I called and introduced myself. Everything else was via email. If I can ever justify to myself the additional cost for concierge level I will just send a "Hello" email and follow up as Tammy suggested. Have a great time!

Unless you need anything that has a booking window of beyond 180 days, like Hoop Dee Doo or the Luau, then there's really not much they can get done for you anyway. Some resorts do send out planning packets, but I don't think WL is one of those. You may want to start your e-mail off that way, especially if you're anxious to contact them and get started. I would simply note your reservation number and arrival date, introduce yourself as the planner of your families vacation and ask if they have a pre-planning questionnaire to help you out or information on the resort, private dining order form and recreation activities. I know when I planned with the YC, they sent me out a manila envelope that contained a lot of information, including park maps.

Thanks for the info we will be there in dec and I was looking for some feedback along with contact info. :)

I apologize for not having read the whole thread, but we will be staying concierge level at the GF after Thanksgiving. I made all of my ADRs myself, But I would love to change my time for CRT. Do you think that the IPO could help me with this? I have called Disney Dining and they were booked solid for that day.

Thanks :)
