We are planning on trading DW's used SUV in tomorrow and buy a 2011 Toyota Camry that has very low miles. We have always been a Ford family and have never really considered other makes before now. This car is in excellent condition and shows no wear. Looks brand new. Can anyone tell me their own personal experiences with Camry's please. Were you happy with your purchase?

My first car was a used Camry, loved it. A few years later I decided I wanted a new car and decided on a Camry. I've had it now for 11 years and really love it.

I drive a high mileage 1999 Camry and I love it. I have never had any real trouble with it. I keep the oil changed per recommendation and of course have to replace tires and brakes, but so far ( knock on wood) I have not had any major repairs that need to be done. My FIL also drive one and loves it, he was a Honda man before his Camry. I am sure that someone out there hates them, but IMHO if it has been taken care of it will be a good car for years to come.

I'm not sure where you live. But if you're anywhere near the northeast, make sure a qualified mechanic checks out any car you're considering buying.

There are an awful lof of cars that sustained significant salt water damage after Superstorm Sandy 7 months ago. I'm not sure where they are, but I certainly would not want to be buying one.

My family has never owned the Camry but we have and still do have the Corolla and love it! Our Corolla is a 1997 and knock wood, we have only had to keep up with regular maintenance. Before this Corolla, we had another one. Two years ago, we decided to get the RAV to use as the family car and DH uses the Corolla as a station car. So overall, we love our Toyotas!!!

on the advice of the fine members here (you can check my posts) we got one last year. a 2010. FANTASTIC purchase, great car. Runs well, great on gas....

Could not be happier. Buying a second Toyota soon (hopefully)>:cool1:

Thank you everyone for your opinions! Also, thank you for the suggestion about making sure it was not a car that had water damage. It is a local trade in. That is something I do remember seeing on the news though. ;) Here is to hoping we have many happy years with our Toyota too!

DH is on his third Camry. All went over 200,000 miles without major problems (currently he is driving a 1998 with 273,000).
Actually, just yesterday we went out and bought a brand new Subaru, only because we live in a super snowy area and he liked the idea of AWD in winter (mostly for my benefit!). However, he plans to keep driving the Camry to work (62 miles round trip) until it dies! Camrys are super reliable.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Have this vehicle thoroughly checked out.I'm not positive but I thought I read about problems with some of the Toyota's a year or two ago.I have to wonder why it was already traded in after such a fairly short time and with low mileage to boot.Sometimes low mileage means it spent more time being repaired than driven.Every once in a while, even the best car makers have a lemon.I hope it turns out to be what you want.

Definitely get a car fax on it and have it inspected. Toyotas are awesome cars. My first car was a 1997 Camry and I sold it 2007. New owner totaled it lol Had I not been a crazy 16 year old and not taken it mud slinging and hit numerous things and always forgot to get the oil changed and what not, it would have lasted much longer. My dad used to sell used cars....he will tell you Toyota and Honda are the BEST cars to buy new or used!

Love my 2009 Camry. Very comfortable ride and I love the style.

I have two Camry's.

Bought a 2002 LE new and still have it. The car has been great. Still rides like the day I brought it home. Loved it so much, when the time came to get another car, I traded in my 2002 Chevy Malibu and bought a 2010 Camry LE for my daughter to use.

Love Toyotas.

We had a 2005 Camry that my hubby just turned in for a new car.

I just about cried. We had absolutely NO problems with that car.

It was a GREAT car! I really think you will be happy!

We have 2 toyotas and love them. One is eleven years old and no problems. Prior to going toyota we were always having car problems!

DH loves his Camry and no major problems, just maintenance (knock on wood!). I traded my Ford Windstar for a Honda CRV (Love it!) after putting over 6000.00 in repairs in it at 70,000 miles, then the dealer could not get a part for months! Sorry we had to switch to cars with better repair records. We previously had Oldsmobiles and loved them.

I drive an 07 Camry. No problems, ever! As much as I love new cars, I can't bring myself to sell / trade this car. It's been so good!

We have an 04 Camry. I have sciatica, and our Honda Civic used to aggravate it. I tried the Accord, Nissan Altima, and the Camry, and the Camry was the most comfortable. I get the oil changed every 5000 miles, and that's been it so far, great car!!

Could be a lease return, very common. Toyota has had more problems recently than it had in the past, but I sure haven't heard of any catastrophic problems. One additional repair can knock a car from a top reliability rating to average.

Nothing wrong with getting a CarFax, most dealers offer it free. But, I've seen too many major issue that just didn't show up on CarFax. It's a great tool in checking out a car, but it shouldn't be your only tool.

Definitely true. Actually the last car I had had a clean carfax but I had wrecked it, just never filed a claim and had a family friend fix it.
