So, if I get a June use year, my points will be available June 1st! Then, if I get a December use year, my points will become available December 1st. That's impressive that you have 21 and they all have the same use year. I assume there is a benefit to placing them in the same use year then? I saw that they were about to release some new direct at VGF. I suppose I could consider 2 direct purchases depending on the asking price. I figured I would go resale for the WDW property so I can also afford direct at DL when it opens. Thanks for the reply.
Points are always there. The start of the UY just changes which points can be used for trips.
If you are traveling summer and December, then a June UY fits well as both those travel times fit in the first 8 months, which allows you to still bank points if something happens and you can’t go or need to change the dates.
You can still book both at 11 months out. For example, if you want to travel in July and December 2023.
Those trips fall in a June 2023 UY. You can book those trips using banked 2022 points, 2023 points, and borrow up to 50% of your 2024 points.
Each can be booked exactly 11 months out at your home resort because it goes by when the trip happens, and not when you book.
Now, say you get a Dec UY and want to travel June and Dec 2023. The June trip would fall in your Dec 2022 UY and can be booked with banked 2021, 2022, and borrowed up to 50% of your 2023 UY points.
The Dec trip falls in your Dec 2023 UY, which means that one can use banked 2022, 2023, and borrowed up to 50% of 2024 UY points.
You would book these trips the exact same date as you would if you own a June UY.
If it were me, I’d try for a June UY as borrowing from a Dec UY for a summer trip can be risky because once borrowed, they would have to be used by November 30th. If you had to cancel, it might be tough to reschedule a trip as mod September to end of November is a busy
DVc time and rooms might be hard to get.
