Use year change?

Is it possible for DVC to change our use year? We have a June UY and it is probably the worst we could have. Quite a few of our trips have been and will be planned for May.

Once purchase is complete, use year cannot be changed. Your deed gives you a small percentage real estate interest in a specified "unit" which is usually some combination of a couple rooms in the resort. Each unit in a resort has its own specified use year applicable to all owners of that unit which cannot be altered. Only way to change is sell what you have and then purchase anew.

The only thing that you can do is sell and buy the correct year.

Thanks Bill but don't want to do that. We have managed for almost 8 years and I guess we will just keep managing.

This doesn't help the OP, but I have heard that DVC will change the Use Year for a new purchase if you are still within your rescission period.

Technically, they cancel the first purchase, then send you new closing documents.

I know this because this is one of the things that our Guide offered us during our rescission period when I realized that our original use year did not match our vacation habits. (However, we decided that we weren't happy with the resort, either, so we ended up cancelling entirely.)
