Use Year and Banking

I have 150 points from 2008 which I banked for my May 2009 trip. Due to an unexpected circumstance, I do not think that I may be able to go in May .

Since my use year is December, do I have until December 2009 to use my 2008 points or can I bank them for my May 2010 trip? Also, does the fact that I must bank by July 31 play into this equation?

from your 2008 UY or 2007? a may 2009 trip is within your 2008 UY, so i assume you banked your 2007 pts.(?)

you have until dec 2009 to use banked 2007 pts or unbanked 2008 pts. you can bank your 2008 pts (which you received last week) to use for a may 2010 trip if you wish. any banked 2007 pts will expire at the end of november 2009. in this case, july 31 is a nonissue so far as i can tell...

You just received your December, 2008 points this month. It sounds as though you banked your December, 2007 Use Year points. You now have thru November 30, 2009 to use those banked points. The points you got on December 1, 2008 may be used thru the same date next year ... or banked to extend their useful life until November 30, 2010.

December is a confusing Use Year for many members because the points are usually used in the following calendar year, but the same banking and use principles apply for all Use Years. You will always have a full year to use the points each year and can always bank the current points thru the end of the 8th month of your Use Year, extending their use for an additional year.
