What is the popular thinking with what to do with "use them or lose them" points. After closing on a DVC through TSS, we will end up with 4 points to be used by Sept 1, 2006. We can't use them, hate to just lose them.

You could rent them or donate them to another member. - 4 points isn't a lot but it may just be what someone else needs to book a room.

I just bought DVC 2 days ago and am renting points (did this before I joined).

Hope this is helpful

Transfer them to another member. That way they don't go to waste and you make a little money out of it, too. :sunny:

If they're banked points from the previous Use Year you won't be able to transfer them to another member.

If they're not banked points, then you should be able to bank them.

It sounds like you have 4 points that cannot be transferred to someone else- they may only be used to make a reservation and 4 points is not enough to for even a single night.

You could offer to rent them by adding some points from your next Use Year or offer them to someone else by having them transfer their points to you so you can make a reservation for them (not very likely to find someone wanting to do that). Otherwise, there are not a lot of options for that few number of points.

Good luck! :)

Give them to Daitcher. I'm always up for another trip and a few more brews. :woohoo:

Rather than lose them, I think I'd offer them on the rent and trade board.

At, say, $5 each :cool1:

Unless the OP is willing/able to combine them with points from their next Use Year, there is nothing that can be done with 4 points - at any price. They cannot be transferred to another member since they have already been banked.

I'd just let them go and forget about it. IMHO, it's not worth the effort to rent out one night. That's especially true if you are new to DVC and have no rental experience. So unless you have more points you aren't planning to use (to make a longer reservation for someone else), it's just "throwing good points after bad."

Best wishes -
