Use FPs on MB that hasn't entered the park?

On our last two trips, we've been able to take my parents' Magicbands into a park with us (with parents back at hotel or wherever) and use their FPs. Is that still something we can do? Or have they changed it?

Also, doing this does NOT use up a park day on their ticket if they don't go to the parks at all that day, correct?

Correct, this is totally fine. It does not affect your park entry. Fast Passes attached to an individual are accessible even if that person's band is not used for admission. Currently. I expect at some point in the future this will be "fixed" but it has not yet.

Yep - we do it all the time, most recently the weekend before Thanksgiving.

It does currently work but don't be surprised if this is something that is patched at a future time. I can pretty much guaranty this is an unintended use of the system and unintended uses are addressed in patches.

People have no problem doing this but complain about holding tables at QS restaurants????? I really hope they fix this soon, or better yet, make everyone get a picture tied to their MB and not let anyone but the band holder use it.

Keep in mind that getting FP while you were in the parks and using them later was "hoarding and evil" but loading up on FP before you even enter the park competely circumventing the system is "being park savvy". The hypocrisy is almost laughable.

And don't forget FP+ was about making the system more fair.

For real though, yes you can do it, but it is super frowned upon.

Are you talking about during FP-? I wasn't on the boards then, so I don't know what was considered evil or not evil.

Meh. If you're paying for that person's FPs, I don't see why it matters who uses them. They're still only going to be used once.

I don't think you had to be on the boards then to see those posts. They became far more prevalent after FP+ when people wanted to pretend like the new system would prevent hoarders.

When people complain about $$ getting a better experience, this little glitch allows the rich to have lots and lots of FP+. It's not uncommon to have 9 for the day, across multiple parks. With a throwaway campsite, they can all be booked 60 days in advance and the entrance doesn't have to be different actual people, just different DMEs.

Doing it as described is NOT paying for the FPs. It is on a MB that is not having a ticket used that day. I would be less judgmental if it was on a ticket being used and grandma doesn't go on rides so the grandchild uses the FP. As described, the glitch is that a FP can be made and used on a MB, even if the band isn't scanned for a ticket that day.

Personally I do not have a problem with guests utilizing loopholes to maximize their expensive vacations. But during the era of the Great Fastpass+ Debates, there were those who insisted that paper FP- hoarding (using FP- after the return window) was not just evil and sinful and made Walt Disney cry, but also the cause of everything wrong at WDW. The illegal and immoral antics of FP- "Superusers" were blamed for everything: long standby lines, long FP return lines, vacations being ruined, the price of turkey legs, dirty bathrooms, heat rash, making kittens sad, etc.

To back up their claims, there were mathematical studies which supposedly proved that hoarding paper FP- wrecked the standby/Fastpass balance and made everyone wait longer (while at the same time claiming that paper FP- was an unsuccessful underutilized program because it was too complicated and only 10% of park guests were actually using it). The conclusion being that FP+ will end up being far superior, infinitely more fair, standby lines will be shorter, and sunshine and rainbows and unicorns.

The great new FP+ program was going to solve all problems, and once and for all prevent the evil superusers from getting to the park at rope drop and hoarding all the paper FPs. Of course, now we see the truth: instead of running for paper FP at rope drop, now there is a virtual rope drop at midnight 60 days before the park opens to get FP+, and a new wave of exploits. And the same people who vehemently attacked paper FP- hoarders for supposedly "abusing the system" have not much to say when guests exploit the new FP+ loopholes. Most likely because they are using multiple sets of MagicBands themselves.

Like I said, I don't care about guests using loopholes that Disney ignores / encourages / refuses to close. But I find the hypocrisy amusing.

In most systems there are loopholes. Savvy people will always take advantage of the loopholes. Assuming it's all legal then go ahead.

If I can game the system to benefit me without violating any rules or laws then why would I not do it. If Disney wanted to close the loopholes they'd do it. It's really not that hard to do in this case.

Yes, as long as you're not using a paper fastpass late, it's all good. :cool2:
