No, but I think tsumani victims had a LOT LESS KNOWLEGE about the potential for a Tsumani then this guy did about his laptop.
Sorry, but checking your laptop is STUPID and what he fails to realize is that he has NO legal recourse. The terms and conditions you agree to as part of your ticket dramatically limit the airlines liablity. It basically becomes his word against the airlines. It's not different then when folks have posted on here "I left cash sitting on the bed and it got stolen and Disney won't pay me back" Why? Because Disney has no way to know that you really had the cash. The airline has no way to know that this guy really lost a laptop.
I feel sorry for tsuamin victims. I don't feel sorry for this guy and I think that your comparison is insulting to the victims of a natural disaster. But maybe you think a stolen laptop is equal to the loss of life?? I don't!
