Ugh! $20 a bag is ridiculous. It is important to look at the entire price, fare plus baggage fees, and compare it to your alternatives, and how much getting to where you want to go is worth to you. That's the only way to determine whether or not the baggage fees are reasonable or not. For many people, in many cases, even with this higher baggage fee, US Airways remains the very best option.

Exhortations are amusing, but not much else. Is there anything substantive underlying your accusation, or are you just frustrated?USAir is a RIPOFF!!!It is important to look at the entire price, fare plus baggage fees, and compare it to your alternatives, and how much getting to where you want to go is worth to you. The majority of American leisure travellers (and certainly many of the posters here) are unwilling to pay viable fares for air travel. The airlines have to make up their losses in some fashion, as raising fares doesn't work.
And SW does not always have the lowest fares - they have just done a remarkable job of convincing some people not to even consider other carriers.
Until passengers stop expecting cross country fares of $200 or less and are willing to pay the true cost of travelling, I have no issue at all with airlines charging these fees.
If your choice was to pay $750 for a cross country flight with 2 free checked bags, or $300 for a cross country flight with a $20 bag fee, I know which the majority would choose.

I wonder how long before an airline decides to treat checked luggage as cargo. The charge will be based on weight and distance of the flight.
Why not just say that life stinks?Ok should have said USAir stinks................
None of what you wrote sound unique to US Airways. Perhaps you haven't flown many other airlines very often, because I could relay experiences much worse than what you've outlined, with several other airlines I flew quite a lot over the last few decades.Well since you asked, yea......................![]()

USAir is a RIPOFF!!!
Charging for bags is a RIPOFF!!!
How airlines are getting away with this is sickening............
Whats next charging for breathing air, pay per using their light, cleaning fee, Southwest does NOT charge for bags and they are continually lower then USAir. Shame you US airlines charging for bags.............

Not true in our area. Last time we flew it was almost $100/pp less to fly US Air, even adding in the baggage fees, than it was to fly on SW.
No I didn't ask.It was my experience with them you asked
Rather, I'm making practically nothing out of what you've said.quit trying to make something out of nothing
Not at all. I just think your comments are missing the point that US Airways is not much different than most of the rest of the airlines. You're frustrated and upset with them, perhaps, now, but switch to another airiline, and you can have the chance to be frustrated and upset with them too.what you work for Hooterville Air, erh .USAir??
