I did post this on the transportation board but I figured this gets more traffic.

I just heard on CNN radio that USAir will be cutting back it's flight schedule due to the war. I don't know specifically what or if this even applies to WDW travel but just figured I should pass it along.

I was wondering if that was going to happen. We are going May 15th - May 23rd on US air. Booked with Disney. I have a nice early flight, I will be keeping my fingers crossed nothing changes for us!!!

US AIRWAYS TO REDUCE CAPACITY IN RESPONSE TO IMPACT OF WAR

ARLINGTON, Va., March 27, 2003 -- US Airways announced today temporary changes to both its transatlantic and domestic schedules in response to the impact of the ongoing war in Iraq.
Domestic schedule changes will be effective April 2 through May 3, 2003, and will affect mostly evening flights departing from Pittsburgh and Charlotte, N.C. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, the last bank of flights departing Charlotte will not operate. On those days, the last flights of the day will depart Charlotte between 7 p.m., and 8 p.m., Eastern time.

The last two banks of departing flights from Pittsburgh will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between April 2 and May 3, 2003. On those two days of the week, the last departing flights out of Pittsburgh will depart by 6 p.m., Eastern time.

Schedule changes for the first week of April are currently available to the public through computer reservations systems, and adjustments for the period through May 3 will be available beginning Sunday. Customers should contact their booking agent to determine if the schedule adjustments have affected their itinerary. A chart detailing the routes affected by the domestic schedule changes is available online at www.usairways.com/adjusted_schedule

Ughhh!! We leave on a Tues May 6 out of Pittsburgh on an 8:40 flight, I'm sure that if the war is not over that this will be extended for the month of May as well-does anyone know what they are doing with the people on these flights? I should have continued reading the article I know-thanks for any info.

the worst part is not being able to lock your checked luggage, we didnt know that till we got to the airport and needless to say when we landed and our bags arrived my daughter checked her luggage to make sure her jewelry waws stil there, not that everyone is dishonest by no means no but she had some nice pieces of jewelry she wanted to make sure was still there of course it was but it was a real eyeopener we dont plan on bringing back as many soiuvineers because of this only what we can carry on, so just to make everyone aware, so no surprises at airport.

I read on another board that not only was someone's flight changed, the day they flew was 1 day later than planned and they didn't find out till they got to the airport.
Until things settle down, I would suggest checking a few times before you leave to make sure things haven't been changed for you.

We are leaving on April 30th. and have been changed by North West 4 times now. I expect to get notified that they have us on another day,week or month pretty soon. It is such a pain. I have to change our home transportation and Transportation once in WDW. I have changed both transportation companies 4 time too! But I have been told to hang on to my hat, because this most likely will happen several times more to come before we leave. So were just hoping that we get there the same week. There are 8 of us and 7 people took work vacations so things are not too flexable. So with fingers crossed, things will be alright. The only thing that was dissapointing is the fact that 6 months ago I made sure to get the 6:50 am take off so we could get there early, now it's in the afternoon..Same with the return, we got the latest flight home and now it's early afternoon..Bummer!

NW also cut back on flights. The early 5:50am flight from Lansing to Dtw is about to be cancelled which left us with limited choices and multiple connections. The most direct routes cost a fortune, after adjusting our dates by a day we were able to get something that wasn't too bad, but definitely not what we were hoping for!

Airlines really frustrate me - they pretty much do what they want to you and you don't have a whole lot of anything you can do about it!
