mrsltg said:The airlines are not doing anything. The government, in all its infinite wisdom, has made this decision (remember when tweezers were going to be used to bring down a plane?). The problem is, no matter how much you ban, there will always be something else. What's going to happen now is an airline collapse. An industry that posted its first positive quarter in many years is taking a tremendous hit today - I suppose the bright side is the Fed won't raise the rate at the next meeting. Who is going to fly with these restrictions in place longterm? In Britain they are now saying you can bring accepted items through security in a ziploc bag. Everything else needs to go into checked luggage. How long before the US adopts the same regulations? Of course, whether or not it will make you safer remains to be seen.
We have to TRY! Obviously, unless you have the mind of a monster, you aren't going to be able to think of every possible scenario, but we have to react when we are threatened and we have to be proactive to try to reduce the threat. This is not going to go away. This is our reality and we have to do whatever it takes. If we are inconvenienced -- oh well!
