My opinion: Hit Shrek or get an Express Pass as soon as you arrive. Then, run over towards World Expo and ride BTTF and MIB. Then ride Jaws, and hit any other rides you want to do.
Be sure to see some shows.

Especially Horror Makeup Show and the Graveyard Revue, which yeild a Pg-13 rating (so you can see it before the kids come, unless they're older, and it doesn't matter. That way you can judge whether or not to take them). Also, if you get the chance, see a GB Show

Blues Brothers is good. Kids will less likely get into it, so if it interests you...see it! I know you'll less likely see shows if you are with kids, so this trip could be a great oppurtunity to get some in!
I agree Louie's! It's located in New York, across from the Graveyard Revue, beside the arcade. Good pizza and such. Some nice people work over there! I eat lunch there every time I go to Universal.

My parents like Cafe La Bamba too, but we prefer Louie's over it. My mom also enjoys Richter's Burgers with is across from the Graveyard Revue (across the other 'street') and Earthquake.
