US to lift travel ban for foreign air travellers who show proof of vaccination

I'm an AZ/Pfizer mix from Ontario. I did a test to see if I could book a third dose, but no, still only those with the immune issues. But someone suggested we might be able to pay for our dose or even go to another province for it. I don't know how that would work or even who is selling doses (and would I trust them).

Like the PP, we want to be on our March break cruise, but if I can't get this sorted before the end of October, I'm not sure I can keep the cruise.
Last time I was down in orlando (earlier this month) there was a vaccins clinic in MCO. I'm toying with the idea of getting a second pfizer there when we are leaving to come home on October 3rd. If possible I can see how that goes and report back.

The question will be how will it show up on your "passport", but I guess if you have a paper from the Orlando shot, that might be enough.

My friend got vaccinated down south. Her gp updated her medical records. I think there is also a place in the Covid portal for Ontario where one can enter this information.

We had considered this just for our own peace of mind. Now with the new rules, how will us mixed dose people get there in the first place?

was it only Pfizer they were offering?
I'd like to get J&J to be honest, it's one shot and I'm not really doing it to boost my immunity, I feel quite good about the AZ/Pfizer mix for that, it's just for US requirements so getting one shot of J&J to be able to easily cruise or fly to the US would be ideal. I'm not sure I want to take a short trip to Orlando (before November when they change the flying rules) but hey, anything is possible! My boss did tell me I have to take a vacation before end of March as I have too much to carry over...

Honestly I'm not sure. We just walked by it. I mentioned it to my husband about a week ago because we leave to go back on Saturday. That trip was suppose to be a cruise but because od my AZ/Pfizer combo had to cancel. I'm with you though I feel very protected and a J&J shot would just simplify things.

It’s the Pfizer vaccine at Mco. I’m seriously considering at trip to the US for a third shot for dh and I. Quick weekend away somewhere….

The Walgreens site asks if the patient has received a dose of vaccine yet. Boosters of Moderna are not available at this time. But I can void as a second dose, which I guess it technically is.

I decided to move our trip in November to Disneyland to October, it was a mad scramble to change flight/hotel etc. Sad we won't see Christmas stuff but feel better about not getting stuck due to mixed doses. I have also decided since BC won't give me a third shot, I will get one in LA.

We are travelling to MCO in late October, and we have mixed vaccines. Now we are wondering about getting Pfizer when we're there. 🤔

Did anyone receive Covishield as their first dose? That's a whole other can of worms as a number of EU countries don't recognize it.
I'm considering going to Florida to get a second Pfizer shot. I really wish the US would announce what vaccine schedule they recognize. I hope others will report back if they successfully get a third shot in the US.

Can anyone weigh in on how a third shot abroad might work? Do you tell the pharmacy that you are getting a second dose? That would be marked down on a CDC card, I suppose? Once home we enter that dose online? Then all good? I also wonder—can I get tested here at home for a trip that is under 72 h and use that as my return test. From what I read on the government of Canada site, yes? Wondering g if I can make this happen. I really don’t like that I can’t get a shot here in Canada.

What boggles my mind is that the government is warning Canadians (vaxxed or not) against international travel but allowing vaxxed tourists into Canada. This is incredibly hypocritical. You can't suck and blow at the same time.
Exactly....we said the exact same thing. Any trips into the US will be a longer long weekend trip (4-5 days) to hopefully not test positive before heading home.
I’m ok with growing a tail , I figure I can cover it with pants. Whatever buzzes in my head will have to compete with all the other noise so good luck to it. I too want to travel in January and I agree , I lost any sense of “But should I ?” when we started letting in literally anyone that’s fully vaccinated and does a test. I’m fully vaccinated and willing to test. I’ll be taking my trip thanks.
We have been working since DAY 1 of everything shutting down 18 months ago. We have had to go out in public, meet and interact with people for our jobs daily. WE do what we can to protect ourselves and our family. But our sense of dealing with all of this is vastly different from others who haven't been forced to be out in public. We are extremely used to being out and about, it is second nature for us to use our " safety protocols" to keep us safe. Our perspective is vastly different because we have been out in the public daily for work.

The mixed messaging from governments has gotten on my last nerve. HOW...how can it be safe for people to travel here...BUT we can't travel somewhere??? Hello...do they don't realize how silly they sound. Isn't that what you would call an oxymoron? Anyways, we will be travelling over the next few months....and trying to do it as safe as we can.

I received my second dose of Pfizer in May at CVS. She asked to see my paperwork from my original shot (then laughed at it) and then gave me a CDC card. Which I then scanned when i got back to YYC and AHS has a dedicated email to send out of province vax records -- few days later it was in my health records and shows up on my vax card download. When booking, much like the covid testing, I used my hotel address. Friends of mine got J&J in Arizona back in April -- do some research for those thinking/hoping for that one because I think shortly after they received theirs, J&J wasn't as widely available. From what I have been seeing lately, the Walgreens/CVS's post which one they are offering/have in supply.

What were the Covishield lot numbers again? I think mine traces back to the US, but who can remember at this point :headache:

To all those who are contemplating a 3rd dose. Have you looked into the science behind the benefits and possible side effects of a 3rd dose or is this just a travel decision?

My understanding of the situation is that there is very little information out there at the moment about effectiveness/side effects.
