US/IOA rides, which ones will soak us?

It's been several years since we've been to US/IOA. Our last trip was in February of '02. I distinctly remember (and have the pictures of) being soaked most of that vacation, both by rain and rides. I remember being wet after Juraissic Park, and of course the Curious George play area, and dear old JAWS. I saw people dripping after riding Popeye, but Dudley Do Right was closed for refurbishment, so we didn't get to see how wet you get. Is is along the lines of Splash Mountain (moderately damp) or Kali River Rapids (it took me three hours to dry out ) Put it this way, every picture of our girls on that trip showed them in ponchos with wet hair I don't mind a little bit wet but if I have to listen to DH complain the whole day........

On Jurrasic Park River Adventure, you might get wet.
On Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, you will get wet and possibly very wet.
On Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, you will get soaked!!

JPRA: You will get wet. It could range from splashed (mild) to soaked (moderate).

Dudley: Soaked, if not drenched (head to toe wet)

Popeye: Drenched

That's what I thought. Okay, does US sell cheap ponchos like WDW?

Of coarse they sell ponchos, but your pants will get soaked on Popeye. The big thing there is making sure your shoes don't get wet. Hold you feet up.
On Rip Saw Falls, I've never seen people wearing ponchos. On that one, your entire upper body gets soaked. I wish they'd point the jets down at the bottom of the ride down. But no, you get a shower of water.
JPRA is fine if you sit in the back row.

Not true, Robvia. The back row has just as much chance of getting soaked as any other row. I can't count how many times I've seen boats where all five rows were soaked. It's all up to chance.

Yeah I would agree with the above, only thing is though, I usually don't get very wet at all on Jurassic Park for some reason. I think I get a tiny bit of splashing but definitely never been soaked. If you put your head down on the padding thing in front of you looking at the floor, only your back would get a little splash if anything. But the barges and Dudley Do, your going to get wet no question about it. I don't think theres really anyting at the old U park where you get wet, just IOA. I've never been wet on jaws.

That's my standard routine for Splash Mountain DH has finally wise up and does the same. The funny part is I'm all of about 5'1", and able to pretty much fold myself up under the front. He's 6'2", he still gets wet. I told him what everyone was saying about Dudley, he says if he's force to ride, he will be the one in the poncho. So if anyone sees a tall disgruntled redheaded man in a US poncho next week it may be him!

You might want to keep a pair of flip-flops in your bag for him to wear on the wet rides, that way he can keep his tennis shoes dry, thats the main thing I hate to get wet is my tennis shoes. I don't really mind anything else on a hot day.

If you are staying onsite - you might want to consider having a "water ride" day at IOA. We did this in late June and it was great. We went to IOA and did some rides in the early morning. We hit all the water rides twice and had a blast. Then when you are soaked, soaked, and dripping wet, you can head back to your hotel and dry out. You still will have time to enjoy your evening.

I was always one who liked the water rides, but didn't like walking around soaked for the rest of the day. I got the idea for "water ride" day here on the boards. It really makes it more fun, when you don't care how wet you get or what you look like after the drenching. This was a great day for all of us.

If you work on the basis if an IOA or USF ride has water featured then you will get soaked you wont go far wrong!
