I'm from Texas and we've been to Disney twice. Oldest child really wants to do the Universal parks this time. Is there enough to do for the 6 year old to keep her interested? She is 48".

We are regulars to Disneyland Paris and visited WDW and USF/IOA for the first time last summer.
Our party included DD11, DS9 and DD7 . Youngest is not a thrill seeker like her two older siblings. Pirates of the Caribbean has to many drops according to her :confused3 She is definitely It's A Small World kind of person.

With that context in place I can tell you she absolutely loved USF/IOA. She would have ridden Jaws and Men In Black all day. Suess land, Shrek and ET were other favourites.

We are staying at HRH for 2 nights in July and will therefore be getting full use of our FOTL access for 3 full days and will probably go back at least 1 other day because of Harry Potter :)

My DS was 6 on our last visit (almost 7) and he loved IOA and Universal. Not sure if your youngest is very daring or not but my DS's favourite things were:

At Universal - ET, Shrek, Men in Black, Teminator 3D, Horror Make-Up Show (despite the fact that he is extremely squeamish about blood and nearly didn't go in - he thought it was hilarious), Jaws

At IOA - 1 Fish, 2 Fish, High in the Sky Trolley Ride, Jurassic Park River Adventure (he particularly loved standing in the splash zone afterwards and got completely drenched!), Spiderman (although he doesn't like the simulated 'drop' at the end) and Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. He also loved Me Ship the Olive and firing water cannons at those people on Bluto's :rotfl:

IMO, there is plenty to do at the Universal parks for kids of all ages (with maybe the exception of very, very young ones)

My DD was 6 last year when we went and just under 48in but she had a blast. She loved all the rides that she could get on and still does the Chicken Dance and talks about the Jurasic Park Ride and the Simpsons. This year we were going to do Disney and Universal but decided to just do Universal again, one reason is when I asked her what her favorite things were in Orlando she just mentioned those rides at Universal Studios. Plus she loves Sponge Bob, Jimmy Neutron, and those characters so she loves seeing them over at US.

This year she is just at 48in tall so we are keeping our fingers cross, and heeled tennis shoes on, that she will be able to go on Harry Potter and the Mummy...she was so mad that she wasn't tall enough to go on the Mummy and was trying to talk them into letting her on :rotfl2: she is a dare devil!

We were there in 08 with our 5yo and 7yo and they absolutely loved both parks, MIB was by far their favorite ride. This year we planned a Disney trip, but we are also going to Universal. The kids are really looking forward to it.

My 6 year old DD enjoys all the princess stuff at WDW, but given a choice between watching Sleeping Beauty et al or watching Sponge Bob, she chooses Sponge Bob now! I've showed her all the different rides at Universal and she is excited about plenty of them. I think it's a good age--she's young enough to still enjoy the Dr. Seuss area, but she's also tall enough (49") to try some thrill rides if she likes.

Thanks for all of your responses. That really helps and now I'm starting to get a little excited!!!:cool1:

Keep reading and you will get a lot a bit excited. My husband thinks I'm nuts when I read these boards daily, sometimes more. But the anticipation of the trip, and the planning are part of the fun!
