I know a lot of you out there are golfers. Could you please explain the slope rating system as quoted on US courses to a humble Englishman.

Many thanks
Peter

Peter,
Just checked with my husband who is an avid golfer. Let's see if I can explain what he explained to me.....The slope adjusts for the difficulty of the course. It is a calculation that adjusts your handicap based upon the difficulty of a course. My husband has a 10 handicap. When playing at a difficult course, they may adjust it for the slope and assign him a 12. If he is playing an easy course, they may adjust it to an 8. Hope that helps!

My brother-in-law is from Cornwall, and he and my sister live outside of Bath. My husband is looking forward to a trip to England and many rounds of golf!! :)
