I just wanted to share with my fellow Canadians some of my insight on the US election.
Wow - amazing!!!
We had advanced voting here in Georgia last week and my friend tried to vote at it twice. She gave up on Friday after waiting for 7 hours!!
She did get a number and was able to leave and shop, etc. but had to make sure she didn't miss when her number was called. She left at number 1,700 - her number was 2,075 at about 5pm.
She went again today to vote and luckily it only took her 1 1/2 hours, but I saw long lines at some stations.
I couldn't figure out why it took so long. I just laughed and thought, wow they really take their right to vote seriously (and they should
) but I couldn't see any of us waiting for hours and hours
Anyway I got a look at the ballot.......
Mind you here it is all done electronically on a touch screen computer (it differs in every state) but in our county besides voting for the President, they had 44 other items to consider on the same ballot
I might have been there all day!!
The other nice thing I saw was after you voted you got a nice sticker with a peach on it with the words "I am a Georgia voter", and most adults were wearing them proudly.
I wanted to put a sticker on me that said, "Not a citizen, can't vote" because at the local BK today I felt in the minority.
It'll be interesting to see the outcome. I only hope that this time they will be able to declare a winner tonight!
