Dear US cousins.

Many of us are heading across the pond in the coming weeks and months, and some of us are visiting your beautiful Gulf beaches. :cool1:

Would it be too much trouble to keep us informed as to where the oil slick is, in relation to beaches from Clearwater all the way down to Naples? :thumbsup2

Getting accurate information as to the projected path, all the way over here, is proving troublesome, and I now of many people who are considering cancelling their vacations. :sad1:

Thanks,

Pete

Also, the local media will probably be a good source. In New Orleans, the Times Picayune (nola.com) would be the primary source. The local TV stations will keep up with it also. Further east, you can search for the media in Mobile, Pensacola, and Tallahassee for more information.

It will be very difficult to project the path for more than a few days out. It depends on tides and winds. Also, the question of when the blowout will be capped plays in to the magnitude of the spill.

Pete,

Go to www.floridadisaster.org this is the main web site for the State of Florida for disaster information. When you are on the main page, click on SERT - stands for State Emergency Response Team. This link will take you to updates, situation reports, etc. You can also find a link to any of the 67 county emergency management web sites in Florida for county specific information. Operation Deepwater Horizon is the name Florida has given to the disaster. You might also check Florida's Department of Environmental Protections (DEP) web site.

Hope this helps,

ScubaMickey
