Hi:

I read an article in the Orlando Sentinel about the check in service US Airways offers for your return filght home at your resort. The article mentioned that it applies to guests who use the Disney Magical Express. We won't be using the Disney Magical Express. My question is can anyone use the check in service or do you have to use the Magical Express in order to take advantage of the check in service?

Thanks for you help.

Barbara

The service you're referring to is called Resort Airline Check-in. It is independent of Disney's Magical Express ... you don't need to use DME to use RAC.

HOWEVER, US Airways is currently in a limited testing phase with RAC. Right now, the only US Airways passengers who are flying home from WDW who can use RAC are guests at Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Since you, Barbara, are staying at Boardwalk, you won't be able to use RAC if you are flying home on US Airways.

These are 2 separate services although they often seem to get lumped together.

Anyone can use the check-in service as long as they are flying on one of the participating airlines and are staying at one of the Disney-owned resorts (ie. not Swan/Dolphin, Shades of Green, or DTD resorts).

We have found this to be a great service when we have a later flight. We check-in, get our boarding passes, and send our luggage off to the airport. We then store any carry-ons with bell services and go off to the parks for our last day (and have made rope drop every time we've done this). We usually do use ME to get back to the airport, and it's nice to not have to worry about our luggage since it has already been taken there earlier in the day. We have also found with this service that our luggage is usually one of the first off when we arrive back home - don't know if this is usually the case, but it has been a nice side benefit.
