I have been watching the US Air webpage and the rate for my flight has been the same for weeks! Should I go ahead and book it or take a chance it might drop for a day or two before our trip on Dec.11th? I know there is also a chance it might go up too. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

It could go either way.

I generally just book the airfare that I think is good and deal with it later.

It will not drop a day or two before. When you get into the last week or two, rates go sky high. If you hit the little "i" on the timetable, it will tell you the advance ticket requirement for that fare. It's usually 7, 14 or 21 days prior to departure.

USAir has cut back on the number of flights, making the flights that are left full. If you can get a decent rate, I would take it now. My flights in December were high, one day in July I checked it and it dropped to $209, I grabbed it. It's now running $362.

I am gambling like you. We have great AP res for AKL for Dec 5-9. I have been checking USAIR, AIRTRan, United out of PHL since Aug. The cheapest was 173 now checking travelocity. If you go on USAIR's website you get the same flight for $168. They have been the same for weeks. This is good out of PHL. I will probably book this Tue or Wed. Spirit out of Atlantic City spoiled us last year. Our rate was $155. Good luck, It's a crap shoot.

I never gamble on flights...especially out of PHL as we have so little other options to MCO and a good thing to remember is if the flight cost drops you can call the airline and they will issue you a voucher for the difference to be used towards another flight...that way you don't have to be too concerned AND you have an excuse for another trip!!!

If you are getting close to 45 or 30 days I would probably look at booking. Cheap airfares do generally require a 21 day advance and even if there is a sale there is no gurantee that the sale seats will be on your plane.

I booked my flight for December in early April at $176 per person. Right now the same flights are at $360 a person so I would say book it now as I think they rates will only go higher.

Also keep in mind that some airlines charge a fee to issue a voucher.

I would buy now and not worry if the price drops much. I don't think you are going to see the deals that you used to. The airlines have cut flights out of the schedule so planes go out full. No need to discount flights if the planes are full.
