Hopefully there are a few folks out there! I have a few free flights that are ready to expire and we were thinking of taking out two boys ages 5 and 2 down to Disney for yet another DVC trip. Here is the dilemma, we can only fly down on Friday December 3rd and will land at 10:00 am. We can get a return at 5:45 pm on that Sunday.

So here are the three questions:

1) How is the weather at this time of the year and is it too cold to swim?
2) Is that too short of a trip for a 5 and 2 year old? We were just down there in March of last year. I am just wondering if it's too much travel (3 hour flight)
3) What do you recommend doing in a short 1.5 day trip?

1. Average high is mid to low 70's. The pools are open year round so it all depends on what the weather is like on any particular day.

2. EVERY Disney trip is TOO SHORT.

3. MK for the kids.

Here is my input:

The weather is usually in the upper 70s during the day but drops into the
50's at night. It can be colder but usually my girls will still swim (especially in the hot tubs). You could plan on going to the parks for Saturday or just spend the day relaxing at the pool and then going over the downtown disney at night. As far as your question about whether it would be hard with 2 little ones to go for a weekend that really depends on how good travelers they are. My girls have traveled around the world so traveling for a weekend to disney is no big deal to them but other kids might not do well with the sudden changes.

Have fun deciding!

Check availability first, you may have trouble getting a reservation this late.

Monkey wrench!

Disney has no rooms anywhere, no DVC, no rooms anywhere on Disney property. So disappointing!

Wow. Sorry about the rooms. Is that value and moderate too? We stayed at the celebration hotel before. It was close to Disney and the town had so much charm.

Try and get on a waiting list. The closer you get to the actual date the more opens up because according to the CMs, people tend to cancel last minute. Then its just a matter of finding a flight which for another CT person, would be either Hartford or Weschester.

And continue to call member services twice a day - something will open.

For your kids, I agree MK and for dinner take them to Beaches & Cream - don't get fancy on the food.

My first thought was "can you even get a room" so I'm not surprised to hear this news, though I know it's disappointing!

Unfortunately one of the downsides to DVC is that it doesn't work very well for last minute trips especially in December. The first two weeks of December are extremely popular with DVCers. Points and crowds are down and decorations are up! It is also a time for the Pop Warner folks to be there so the values get booked up too.

When do the Pop Warner groups arrive? It may make a difference in my park planning since I knew DVC was busy but did not expect the entire place to be busy. Maybe it was the extending of free dining that filled so many rooms at the other resorts. Darn - I was hoping for low crowds in the parks and it sounds like it could rival Christmas week itself. We will be there 11/28-12/2.

castleri, from what I've heard, Pop Warner kids don't really pack the parks, as they are there to compete.

OP, we haven't yet gone to WDW (soon though!), but after several Disneyland trips, we realized that while a short trip is better than none at all, a longer trip is much more enjoyable.

I don't know about DVC, but just going through disneyworld.com I'm seeing a tiny bit of availability at this exact moment, if you are willing to stay at any WDW resort and pay $ instead of points. Not pretty prices, of course.

There's a 1 Bedroom Suite - King at CSR or a Standard View at Beach Club (for half the price of the CSR room).

Wowie, it is full!

again, if you are willing to pay cash, have you checked places like hotels.com, expedia, etc etc? They usually have different inventory of rooms so maybe there's something there. You might also want to call the regular booking line, just in case they have different things than MS or disneyworld.com.

Good luck!

There is probably plenty of availability off-site. If you have an AP you'll get free parking. You will have to pay for a rental car. Once you have everything in place I bet you can get a small car from Priceline.

What about one of the regular hotel through the disney collection? It's not the best trade off for points but its a room at least. We just rescheduled a trip we were supposed to take to AKV in November to CSR in December.

As long as the OP isn't in the last four months of their UY.
