URGENT!!! International Flight Security

i fly to disney on sunday, ive been contacted by both the airline and my travel agent sayinf all liquids and gels were banned but it said nothing about laptops, electronics etc. I was going to bring my laptop but now i dont know- what should i do?

As of right now, you are fine with your laptop and other electronics on DOMESTIC flights. As things unfold, this may change. I would certainly check again over the weekend before heading for the airport

Enjoy the trip

I really don't understand the changes domestically. We have always known about the risk of liquid explosives. Nothing has really changed in that respect. Some of the airports domestically have the blowers to detect any explosive residue (they are really a cool invention...they look like you are passing through a metal detector). I'd buy stock in that company! I've seen them in SAN, and DCA I think.

Domestically you can still bring carry on luggage, but you cannot bring any liquids (shampoo, liquid makeup, hair gel, drinks, contact lense solution etc) on board with you.

This could always change. Check the TSA website before you head out, and arrive to the airport 3 hours prior to departure for domestic flights and 5 hours for international flights for plenty of time for the security screening.

Don't live life in fear. :grouphug:

It ceratainly isn't in the UK and I would imagine it's the same in the US. The main bans are on any form of fluid because that was how the explosives were going to be brought on board, and all electronic equipment is banned because the detonators were going to be brought on board via them.

Unless you are flying to the UK you will be fine with a dvd player or laptop.

Allowing fear to rule your life will create more fear and become a cycle and is very unhealthy.

Give it a few days for the shock to wear off.

I wonder if Wet Wipes and lip balm are allowed - I can't go anywhere without those two essentials!!

No lip balm.
I fly out Sunday. I guess I'll leave extra early, and I'm skipping the carry-on. If they lose my bags, I'll survive. At least we can be prepaired before going to the airport, unlike many people on the news today.

I can honestly understand the point of view that it's better to be safe than sorry, especially where our children are involved. But it really IS what the terrorists want. That's why they call them TERRORists. They really don't care how many lives they take, it's the shock and fear they create as a result that is the main goal, as well as the ramifications it will have on the economy, (stock market, decline in tourism, etc.)

As another poster pointed out on a different thread, our soldiers are out there fighting terrorism so we can live in freedom. The least I can do is enjoy it, instead of living in fear. I hope those of you who have trips scheduled in the near future go on vacation as planned and have a wonderful time.

You are 100% correct...terrorists don't just bring down buildings, they subtly change the way we live our lives. The put fear into our minds so we cannot enjoy our lives. The fear makes us question our safety, which makes us surrender our freedoms. They want to upset our economy and industries and our way of life...yes, "better safe than sorry", but on google earth right now you can see literally thousands of planes in the sky, the chances of being part of a terrorist attack are very slim.

Take the energy we put into voting for American Idols or wondering about Brad/Jen/Anjelinia and worrying about why our neighbor gets to stay at AKL when we're at All-Stars and put it toward educating ones-self on current events, voting for politicians who will address issues and not morals, and stop and think about the soldiers overseas who are in real danger, every single moment of every day, not just "possible" danger.

Stepping onto my soapbox...

it is American and patriotic to defend your opinion, just respect other people's opinions, too...nobody is asking you to agree; hating terrorists does not mean you hate everyone of their ethnic background, but you're not evil if you are suspicious of them; it is patriotic to question your government, but remember you also have to respect measures put into play for your protection, no matter if you feel like you're suurendering your civil liberties.

It is right too fight terrorism by continuing to lead YOUR American lifestyle.
Do not give power through fear.

Stepping off soapbox...
