Hello everyone! Just got back from a mini-vacation to Charleston, SC to visit my niece and her family. On the last night both of our kids DD(7) and DS(1) came down with a stomach virus-both ends!!!!!! We ended up driving home the next morning after being up until 4:30AM the night before. Not fun for anyone!!!!!
Now for my question-This trip scared us a little and we don't want to be caught off guard when we visit UO in December. Does anyone know if there is an Urgent Care facility close by? Just want to have my ducks in a row. We are only 2 1/2 hours from Charleston, but almost 8 from UO. Thanks for your help with this!!!!!

Yes, CentraCare is right across the street. It's at 6001 Vineland Road, Suite 108. It is a walk in clinic.

Sand Lake Hospital is on Turkey Lake and is about 5 minutes away.

Just to let you know too, when we were there last year, we had the pleasure :sad2: of visiting Sand Lake Hospital, My 1 year old had gotten a throat infection(never even heard of one until this trip) The hospital was very nice and CLEAN, the cleanest one i've ever been to. And they have the "fast track" for emergencies that aren't going to take long, we were only there about an hour and a half.

In August 2004, my then 9 yr. old son split his forehead open on the retaining wall by the Jurassic Park splashdown zone. We had just eaten lunch in the restaurant next to the ride when he ran outside to watch people come down the final hill. It had been raining and we warned him not to run---needless to say---he ran---and promptly slipped. He hit his forehead on the stone wall and suffered a dime sized cut down to the bone. As soon as I saw him I knew he would need stitches so I asked a restaurant employee to call the IOA medical service for me. Within minutes they were there and gave us the choice of being taken to SL Hosp by ambulance or driving ourselves. We went by ambulance since it was a LONG walk back to the car from Jurassic Park. I rode with my son and my husband and other son met us there in the car. The hospital staff was as nice as could be and my son was taken care of very quickly. He received 5 stitches, but for him the worst part was that he was banned from water rides/sports until the stitches could be removed---he had to miss Wet and Wild to his dismay. Mind you, this was only the second day of our 9 day stay in US/IOA! Fortunately for him the stitches were removed before we left for our cruise that we added on to the end of our trip to FL. All in all, we were very pleasantly suprised by the speed and compassion of the care he received. The accident happened around 12 p.m and we were back at the hotel by 3 p.m. Kudos to IOA and Sand Lake Hospital! :thumbsup2
